Okay so firstly to say that this isn't my car however I went to see it today and although it wasn't for me it isn't in bad condition and the guy selling it is now threatening to scrap it which would be a shame as this mini is 100% a viable resto project.

The guy that owns it is a trader and tends to over egg the condition of the car but below is an honest description to the best of my knowledge after viewing it in the rain.
Generally good rust wise although there is minor bubbling on A pillars, boot is mainly good and the floors seem okay although there is evidence of welding in the past which doesn't look brilliant. Sills and underneath don't look too bad at all.
Overall it's pretty good rust wise and as far as I could see there is nothing that would need immediate attention for an MOT and nothing too scary on the body, I have definitely seen worse.
The front wings at the top where they join the scuttle appear original and unwelded and are not bubbling, you can still see the seam rather than it being smoothed over which is often the case if they have had a poor repair.
The rear suspension is sitting too low.
The clutch is super stiff, you push the pedal down and it takes about five second to come back to it's starting position however it does move the car without any judders and it can be driven.
Electrics don't seem great, wipers weren't working but the lights etc did.
Steering column has been pushed right down so you drive it with the steering wheel resting on your privates.
Engine starts first time and runs alright, seems quiet and wasn't smoking, looks to me as though someone has restored this car to some degree in the past and the engine bay is relatively tidy, brakes are spongy but work okay.
He was trying to sell it to me for a grand and then messaged saying he was going to scrap it, it's worth a grand all day long as I don't think ti would take too much to MOT it but it's definitely an ongoing project.
He has some brand new bucket seats to go with it as well.
He claims to have lost the paperwork during a house move, I didn't HPI it but that would obviously be worth doing, he was happy for me to speak to the DVLA to confirm the car is in his name.
Wouldn't usually do this but I just hate the thought of it getting scrapped as it is far too good for that, buy it off him and stick it on ebay and I reckon you would make money, I think this guy just needs some cash to materialise quick.
In all honesty he is a bit of a nefarious character (told me it drove 'perfectly') but the car itself doesn't look to bad and needs to be taken out of his hands and shown some love!
Cheers
Adam
