1968 GP Super Beach buggy mark 1, Long wheel base, right hand drive, and in your face!!!!
Constructed from a 1968 beetle with an original British made GP Mark 1 glass fibre bodyshell, dating somewhere between 1970 and 1977.
Featured on the cover, and inside the January 2015 Volksworld magazine as part of a 6 page feature with my VW Bus.
I have built this car from the ground up from a rusty '68 beetle destined for the scrap heap! I built it with as many features and styling cues from my bus as I could. Hence colour, interior, bus dashboard etc.
To start, I have replaced both floorpan halves, followed by the entire chassis being stripped, treated and painted, a brand new beam was fitted with adjusters, so the car can be raised up, or lowered a bit more. All the running gear was renewed / restored, this includes all new brakes, pipes, bearings, balljoints, track rod ends, gaiters and much more. The 1300cc engine had a top end rebuild and runs really well.
I have just replaced all the fuel line with modern unleaded compatible stuff, the carb is brand new, and I have just fitted a new clutch as well. All the engine tinware was stripped and painted, the heater outlets removed and a pair of dual cannon exhausts fitted, which sound awesome!!
The entire body was stripped, repaired and repainted inside and out in VW Tiaga Green, it gleams in the sun!!!
The Corbeau bucket seats and custom rear seat were trimmed professionally in Westfalia plaid material and green vinyl. A pair or rac-style harnesses were fitted with the relevant strengthening completed first. Scat shifter, surfboard rear view mirror and Big foot accelerator pedal add to the theme.
All re-wired using OG beetle harness, eveything works as it should, fuel gauge, wipers, lights and an extremely loud horn!!
I have had the car finished and on the road for over 3 years (plus maybe 6 year in the very slow going build process involving 2 x house moves) now and have loved it, however it is time to sell it to finance the restoration of my beetle.
The car is MOT'd, tax exempt and is correctly registered, the insurance is less than £100 per year and the car attracts so much attention wherever it goes, and is soooo much fun to drive and enjoy!!!
Car can be viewed nr Hemsby or near Diss in Norfolk, happy to answer any questions and for anyone to test drive it (as long as you are insured), I will not entertain an offer unless you have looked at the car and are standing in front of me, sorry, but come look at it, ask questions, drive it!!!
Please call or message with any questions, I have plenty of pictures showing the build process from start to finish.
Looking for £5995, may be at Alive and dubbin this weekend weather and work dependent....
