Hi,
For sale is my 1973 1303 Super Beetle 1300 twin port in Brilliant Orange.
In short:
Mot till 2/05/2018
Far from mint but does drive well (slight bogging down at low revs)
You can drive it away.
I bought the car at the beginning of April to use as my daily as my job was only a 3 mile commute every day each way, I thought it was time to finally own one!
I bought the Beetle as an MOT failure, it had failed on a loose tailpipe (I've welded it back up), a bad repair near the rear beam (I cut out and welded up, replaced the lower rear quarter at the same time), a big hole on the drivers footwell, back end of the heater channel (again, welded it up and sealed), and also one headlight not working (currently just piggybacked the power supply from the other headlight, works fine).
The Beetle then passed its MOT on the 3rd of May 2017. I have used the car every day since.
As you can see from the pictures, this is an on the road project. The car could do with a LOT of work in order to get it show worthy, however, that is the reason for it being cheap
Exterior there is rust on most panels, although not all of them will need welding. Rust along the top of the gutters above the doors, it hasn't gone through, I believe hitting it with a wire brush drill attachment will sort both sides out for this. Both bottoms of the doors have rust, I believe to have gone through and will need welding if you want them mint. Rear wings have rust on the edges. Bonnet will need welding up if wanting mint as well.
The interior needs a carpet, and front seats ideally.
I believe the pans have been changed at some point, they feel to be made from very thing metal, however I'm not sure how thick standard ones from the factory are, so could be wrong! I can see it has had quite a few patches done on the heater channels inside of the car. It does get hot air through them though, they just don't look all that nice!
The car drives well, I have done a few hundred miles in it with 0 breakdowns. It does bog down a bit when warm at low revs, drives perfect on choke though. I just give it a little extra revs at junctions once warmed though and it is fine, sure it would only take someone on here 5 mins to sort The engine does drop oil, and has plenty of oil on the block from what looks like years of leaking.
In the front, someone has patched up the turrets quite hideously. I never got round to cutting them out and welding in new bits flush. It passed its mot like this. The lid is missing its springs so is held up with a broom handle (will be included with the car )
I have included plenty of pictures. If you would like any more please just let me know.
I'd prefer if you came to view the car, but I can also help with loading it up on to a trailer or transporter if you'd prefer to get it picked up instead (obviously i'd need the money first )
I'm in no rush to get rid of the car.
I am in Reading.
