If it's not registering the computer then there's a possibility that it's an E.C.U fault, quite common on old VW/Audis with the vacum hose equiped E.C.U, as oil finds it's way into the E.C.U housing(mentioned it in another thread recently) but it's also worth checking the condition of the shaft the rotor pushes on to as they're normaly corroded and if it wasn't cleaned completly before putting the new rotor on this can cause ressistance leading to a slight missfire.
