Hi A friend of mine went to great trouble to get some wheels shipped out to Majorca only to find that they don't fit his Defender 110 (1998) These are the alloys - From a later Land Rover Is there an adapter plate available so that these wheels can be fitted on his defender? And to all those who say 'just google it' - That's how the wrong alloys ended up over there in the first place!

In what way don't they fit? I used to have Disco wheels on my Defender which needed a spacer to clear the chassis on full lock, they look like Range Rover wheels though?

This is what I found by trawling t'web regarding Defender wheel swaps. Quote: disco 1 wheels (up to 300tdi) WILL fit range rover classic wheels WILL fit defender of any age WILL fit wolf wheels (which are military spec defender wheels) WILL fit
disco 2 (td5 etc) WILL NOT fit range rover p38/l322 WILL NOT fit
however, for the last 2, wheel spacer/adaptor rings exist to allow you to fit the wheels.
Thats what was written as a reply on a Landy forum. I read here, and elsewhere, so many people who assume that, because a PCD is the same, wheels are automatically interchangeable between different vehicles. PCD is only part of the story, not enough attention is paid to offsets and virtually no attention is paid to centre bore sizes. I'm sure there are garages and sheds up and down the country that are rammed with wheels bought that didnt fit the car they were bought for.

Is your buddy handy with a lathe? Shouldn't be too hard to do something if the PCD is correct.

Is your buddy handy with a lathe? Shouldn't be too hard to do something if the PCD is correct. PCD is wrong. The wheels are p38/L322 rangerover wheels with a 5x120 pattern, but adaptors are available or you could fit Disco 2 axles

They look like early 16 inch L322 Range Rover rims.
A set of adapters like these ones -http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121110530629 -will let you fit them to a 110, although you'll want some sensible size tyres wrapped round them.

The 5x120 pcd came in with the P38 Range Rover, and whilst powered by BMW engines, and manufactured with the company under BMW ownership it was designed well beforehand, with the decision to use the BMW engine made around 91/92, under the ownership of BAE. Worth a mention I thought.
