Looking at 52mm smiths classic clocks.
Do they tick?
Anyone got one that can say for sure?
Like do they tick at all, even quietly? Or are they silent? Or whir?
I emailed smiths but no reply.

None of mine does. I've got fuel, oil pressure, water temp and amp gauges and none of them make a sound. I must admit that my Facet red top fuel pump and rather loud exhaust might hide some very minor sound, but doubt it.

I was talking purely about actual clocks.
It will be for in my camper van and my wife cant stand a clock that ticks.
I eventually got a reply from smiths and apparantly they don't tick.

I can't say I remember the one in the Mini ticking, but the whole car has laid silent for a while now so wouldn't like to say for sure

It depends on the age of the clock..
Early ones do!
Do you have the clock yet or are you looking to get one?
I might have one here that is silent.
You could try leaving the wife at home or trading her in for a deaf model..LOL

Every car that I have had which came equipped with a Smith's clock, the clock was silent. Invariably because it had long since given up working!
