Hi guys, I'm getting a local fabricator to modify the exhaust on my 03 Jaguar XJ8. They're going to remove one of the middle boxes and replace it with an X pipe. I'm just not sure which box to remove. Here is the current system:  The car has a 4.2 litre V8. Does anyone know what differences in the note there would be depending on which box I delete? |

Depends what they are... I'd remove the big one though.

Sorry; depends what what are? I'm thinking big one, too. The boxes, they will either be a resonator or a silencer, the resonator changes the tone and frequency of the sound, the silencer is self explanatory. |

I've fired up an xj8 with both lambdas removed, it sounded epic.
I'd imagine the front box has a crossover in it if there isn't an external one which may explain its size.
Have it made with slip joints where they remove the boxes and you can always put the box back in if you don't like it.

How about fitting a couple of motorized cut outs? The you can go from bezerk to sedate, just with the push of a button

So if I changed the resonator there wouldn't be an increase in volume at all? That'd be no good... hmmm. I need to work out which is which then! |
