The M3 has come a long way since it's humble beginnings as a homologation special. Influx takes a look at why, through all it's iterations, there is still something special about what is arguably the best coupe to come out of Munich. What's your favorite M3? www.influx.co.uk/edition/bmw-m3-past-present-future/

Hard one. I am biased. For me it's between the E46 and the F80 . The latter is a very capable machine and does give a slight whiff to the past.

I'm a big fan of the M3, always wanted an e36 as a kid and have now had 2. This is first which I still have and probably always will.

I have a 3 litre coupe in avus blue. Had it 15 years , same style rims as yours (18s) with ACS mirrors , roof spoiler. Sharing you're sentiment: never selling it!!!

For me it's the e46 This is mine, Ah, you bought another in the end or did you never sell it? That looks like the Silverstone Edition. I am surprised at their values as of late. But I always preferred the drive of the E46 to the E36 even though they are pretty much the same car. I guess must be a little like the difference between a Porker 944 and a 968.

I bought it back about a month ago

I've been fortunate enough to have a few E30 and got this one just before prices went crazy. I've spent the past couple of years making it mine and have just rebuilt the engine with Schrick 276/284 cams, lighter flywheel and a DTA standalone conversion. It's due to be mapped today and hopefully power will be upwards of 250 brake. It's been stripped of the heavy leather interior etc so should go pretty well. I'd like an E46 M3 as a daily (preferably in Imola or Laguna Seca) but I have some saving to do first.
