Hello everybody, I´m Patrick from Germany and i want to show you my current project: It´s a 1963 Opel Rekord A 2 door sedan. It was located at a friend and was almost to be scraped. So i saved it & thought about what to do. The floor and frame rails were in realy bad condition and - since i already own a 1969 Rekord C Coupe - i thought about doing something new & use the shell for a kind of streetrod After a lot of research and comparing, i decided, that i will put it on a E36 Coupé chassis, since the measeurements are almost identical, except the wheelbase of the E36 is 6cm longer. Within a realy short time, i found a donor car So, i started cutting: After three days, the shell finaly fitted on the chassis: This is it so far - at the moment, i am collecting parts and waiting for better wether to continue the build

An excellent project. These two door Opels of this era are all great shapes. I presume you know of the Dutch specialist Romijn? www.autoromijn.nl/We happed across his place when on holiday in the area a couple of years ago. He has a mine of old Opel bits and pieces.

Thanks guys About the registration: i can not registrate it as "historic" car (cheap insurance and tax), but after some discussion with german TUV (something like MOT) i am pretty confident to get it road legal For my luck, it is nor urgent to get the "B-M-Wobbel" (that´s how my friends call the car ) finished, since i have this one her for driving-fun: Just to get you an impression, how a complete Rekord A looks like - this is one, i owned years ago. Still sad, that i sold it back in the days... The "new" one will get a pretty similar design, but different colors and wheels. Wheels will be BBS RS 723 / 724 and color maybe turquoise with white roof and wheels

After a very strong start you disappeared for a year and a half. Long break! Now get back to work like you did at the start and you should be on the road in a month! I am doing something similar with a Volvo P1800 wagon. I used a Miata chassis under the Volvo shell and did a ford 302 V8 conversion just for fun. What I learned is that next time I will pick cars with the same wheelbase! Also in the bodywork stage.

Lets hope you get further on this than you did on the Ford you were doing? I´m not sure, what you are talking about. I never did a Ford project... you must have more pics than that?? Sure, but they are not that interesting I will post more pics, as soon as the front will be done... After a very strong start you disappeared for a year and a half. Long break! Nice project, seems like it will be fun to drive I was away for such a long time, since we bought a house last year and renovated it completely. This took a lot of time... I do not think, that i will be ready in a month, but hopefully, i can pick up the painted car by january 2019. After that, it needs to be assembled & hopefully, it will be ready to drive on my birthday in april.

We are on a similar timeline then. I did have the car moving under its own power, and the original plan was to drive it in primer for a year, but then I decided that if it was fun to drive, I would never take it apart for paint.
