I have the vauxhall box in my cf, same as a few old vauxhalls.
Its been apart before as its had a new mainshaft.
It leaks oil from the bottom cover, looks like the gasket has been bodged with silicone. Ive tried tightening the bolts but I cant stop it.
My plan was to drop the oil, take bottom cover off and make a new gasket.
This is the box..
Now, I have the usual irrational fear of gearboxes. I plan on doing this with the gearbox in situ.
I cant tell from the diagram though if all kinds of clockwork is going to fly out and if its going to be a nightmare to refit and if ill end up having to take the box out to refit.
Or, if its just a simple cover plate.
I think one fork arm is in this plate and it needs ligning up when refitting but that sounds ok.
What do we think?
Simple or nightmare?
