picked up my humber sceptre Friday night. it's been sat in a lock up for 12 years and is solid but missing a lot of its mechanicals as the previous owner started to strip it for restoration many years ago and then stopped due to I'll health. unfortunately they have now been miss placed.
plan for niw is to get it road legal and modify and improve as I go. I need to start sourcing some parts 1st such as radiator. clutch and brake master cylinders. clutch slave cylinder. both front caliper too name a few..

Bookmarked That looks very tidy, am looking forward to the progress. For new bits, look on the "speedy spares" website. I've been putting info in my Hunter build thread, you might want to have at that and my sales thread for Hunter bits. Just ask if any questions.

I have had a few of these over the years, including one that was the same colour as yours with a really nice turquoise colour interior (albeit in my case it was unfortunately fairly trashed) - what colour is yours?
These Sceptres are a good car to use everyday as they are roomy enough and really plush inside, consumables are still readily available and in addition are in the highest state of tune in the Hunter range at 88 bhp (save for the Holbay engine Hunter GLS with its thirsty twin 40s - not a daily driver proposition) plus the overdrive means they are not slow at at all. I've not tried an auto but I'd imagine they're pretty good too if you prefer that?
We really need more pics and info please.

no real updates just been giving it a good tidy up and working out what is what, i really wish i took before pics as it was grotty to say the least, as i said before its missing alot of parts such as calipers, servo brake master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder and slave cylinder, radiator and thats just from the top of my head, fuel tank is out of the car, every bolt on front and rear suspension is finger tight and not every nut and bolt is there either, the car is tidy-ish but will need to go over every nut and bolt by the looks of things, i will try to keep updated but I'm terrible at remebering to take photos, i will get some interior photos tomorrow. cheers. also i checked last time it was taxed and was 2001 so thats 16 years off the road not 12! also nomad thats a fantastic write up and very informative, once car is road legal will almost certanly be fitting 2" lowering blocks and capri lowering springs as my 1st upgrade followed by m16 caliper conversion

a few more photos.. my hunter has been mostly worked on by my grandad who recently retired and i recently gave up my storage. He offered to let me keep the car at his house until i get somewhere else sorted, but hes near enough got the car on the road already! I cant thank him enough! He repaired all the electrics as it was in a bad state and had alot of bad repairs, put the fuel tank back in with a new fuel sender unit, new shocks for the rear which were with the car, the whole braking system is new including pedals(didn't come with any), servo, brake shoes, pads and refurbished calipers, its not currently running a master cylinder but i will get one when i upgrade the brakes to m16, the clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder have been replaced for new items also, the engine bay is now looking better rather than a bare block, he has put all that back together also and rebuilt the carbs, its running great, i can't thank him enough! All it needs now really is abit of a tune as exhaust has only just arrived and an MOT.

thanks dan, most of the credit goes to my grandad though, i cant wait until its on the road, ive had to send photos to dvla of vin etc i assume because it had an old style log book? so i will have to wait until logbook comes through to MOT it. it does need abit of tidying but i can do that after its road legal

2" lowering blocks came today, couldn't stop myself from fitting them, as i was in a rush i was just going to cut the front springs like i usually do but it looked abit dodgy so i left it, eventually I'd like to get a set of coilovers made up but for now just going for capri springs, can i use -2" capri springs or will -1" be better? want it as low as possible but also safe-ish.. will be ordering asoon as i know if i can getr away with -2" springs as my car now looks like its about to take off! haha. cheers
