Has anyone had any success in painting vinyl trim ?
I will be re-trimming some seats for my 02 project, I am thinking of doing them in a saddle tan, with black and tan door cards. But the door cards are currently all black.
Does anyone know of any good products that will successfully change a black vinyl to a tan colour ? or am I just being silly !!!!

Sem Vinyl Coat is the best purpose made product I have found and used. Available in a range of colours and very durable, the colour actually bonds into the surface of the vinyl. I have actually used normal aerosols of car colour though and if the vinyl is thoroughly cleaned first with panel wipe it works and adheres perfectly. Build it up in light coats and "adjust" the last coats application to get the desired finish, i.e. a semi gloss sheen.

I fitted a brown vinyl dash to my Hunter, painted it black (using Halfrauds finest ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) ) before it went in the car and I'm impressed. It went on good, no runs, nice solid coverage, ok price (I think it was under £10 for the aerosol) and has lasted well. Before & after photos in my build thread, maybe even the name of the spray. No idea how it would work on a seat that goes through a lot of movement and rubbing.

VHT vinyl dye is what you want, it'll cover over old colours/patterns. Used it to dye the trim on an old vw polo fox interior door cards which were originally a lairy striped design. I have also used it to dye the trim panels in our aircraft simulators at work. Very durable, doesn't rub or flake off, it really does dye the vinyl. The vinyl also retains its flexibility. www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=vht+vinyl+dye&tbm=shop

I've just recently done a dash with the vinyl paint from halfrauds in a rattle can and worked well indeed
Although think next time I will use the Matt stuff as bit shiny but that's my only complaint

Can I invade... Once you've 'succesfully' painted the vinyl, how to unpaint it? The piece inbeween the rear lights is supposed to be and was black. Until they decides to paint the car... ![](http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab317/johnnyizegem/IMG_20170312_160159_zpsj5oby0e7.jpg) Or would it be easier to paint it black again. But would rather have it removed then layered... Also, they have painted a lot of the chrome... maybe same procedure for removing the paint?
