So...
It didn't go as smoothly as planned. We tried using as much of the x1/9 parts as possible, including the clutch and flywheel...
This didn't work, as the x1/9 flywheel was too big for the Yugo gearbox!
curse word!
So out it all came, Yugo stuff back on and it fits like a glove!
We still need to build and set the Webber carb up, fit more pipes and hoses, fit the rad, top the fluids up, fit new rotor arm and leads, get the brakes set up, Get the exhaust system made, Possibly get bike carbs setup, Buy and fit new coilovers, Get the car sat how I want it, Make sure the wheels fit, Get it an MOT Tax it Insure it And finally drive it!
So loads left to do haha,
Thanks for the support and for reading guys!!

Haha, sorry, total fan-boy moment! If you want a Yugo mate, get on the Yugo UK and zastava UK Facebook groups, they come on there for reasonable prices! Thanks for the kind words, I'll always keep this forum up to date, along with my Facebook page haha.

Evening all! No pics of today's antics I'm afraid! We (my amazing dad and I) managed to get the gear linkage fitted and the radiator fitted and plumbed in, hurray! Then all the trouble began... First off, after plumbing most of the water and rad pipework, we realised one of the mild steel water pipes was absolutely rotten! Luckily, the Yugo one is a direct replacement and is in loads better condition. I sprayed it to give it a little bit of protection, then as I say, the trouble started! The pipe was in the worst possible position! Took the two of us just to change it!!! AHH,what a ball-ache, anyway, we got stuck in and got the job done Next, we got the passenger side drive shaft fitted, then when we filled the gearbox up with oil, we realised that the shaft is leaking... curse word! So we'll whip it off next weekend of some time and take a look, dad reckons it's not sealing nicely to the gearbox, so we shall see! Next, the bracket that holds the throttle cable in place on the x1/9 engine is in a completely different location to the Yugo one, thus meaning the Yugo throttle cable wouldn't fit, so we managed to swap the bracket from the old Yugo engine to the x1/9 one, which was a success! And then, to top it off, dad noticed that every single bolt for the exhaust manifold is either rounded off, or the threads are curse word(in one case, both!) So that's now all off and my good ol'man is gunna re do the threads and stick some nice bolts in for me on Monday, when he's at work! Sorry for the long read and lack of pics guys! Thanks for looking!

That is basically expected, so don't worry, there are gonna be plenty of real pain with that type of car. Believe me, I know.

If you'd told me 25 years ago I would be reading a thread about one of these, and thinking it looked cool, I may well have slapped you... However, now, I'm very much liking this - such a simple little thing, and the design has faired well over the years - very clean looking. They were rather a joke back then, not so much now! Keep it going!

Until that is it was pointed out it was a Yugo (8 secs in...) Haha! I remember that advert! People do get so uptight about cars! I appreciate people are passionate but the way I see it is, if YOU have a certain car and YOU do what YOU want with that car, why should it matter!?😂 They chose to smash a MK1 and what looked to be a clean Suzuki swift??... So what? They paid for the cars, so they can do what they like with them! Haha

She does indeed run with the X1/9 engine fitted! I've got a few videos but they seem to take ages to upload on here!? Oh well haha, next, we raised the car's hight so it can be but on a transporter ready for when we move. I managed to snap a couple of pics of the ol'girl out in daylight for the first time in ages! Quite like the look of it sat next to the Uno! Haha Cheers guys!

I too see the passing resemblance but I'm risking getting lynched here but I think these are much better looking than a mk1 golf
