Goddam petrol fuel line is leaking again. A year ago i went and got some rubber fuel line from a tractor dealership and now it's cracked and splitting. I thought that would do the trick and it's located in the poxyest place ever. Well today in traffic i could smell fuel, turned around and went home and guess who's leaking... I was on my way to the land rover stealership to collect a part for the disco as the throttle body heater plate decided to erupt yesterday and spray coolant everywhere and now my BM leaks fuel! And not just onto the ground... oh no... it goes all over the side of the block, fizzing and boiling on its way down! Total ball cocks! Anyway, i have a question that i already know the answer to and it's: can i use ASH silicone vacuum hose as fuel pipe? 99% says no as it'll absorb the fuel and swell up but I'm just checking that 1%!

Definitely not.
SAE J30R6/7/8 for carbs, R9 for injection, R10 for submerged lines. I use R9 everywhere but watch out for fake eBay tat.

The fact you've used fuel line that isn't suitable for petrol use is likely why it hasn't lasted. buy fuel hose it from a local indy car accessory shop they will only sell decent stuff.

It was petrol fuel line, just my description was a bit vague. However, it didn't last so in those respects you are correct. I have now got the correctly rated stuff which I was forced to buy from halfrauds for the price of a small plot of land in south Africa and one which is doing the job.

Braided line? Works well imo tends to get a bit expensive when you add all the fittings though. I wouldn't recommend the overbraided rubber stuff, as you can't see when its knackered till its curse word fuel everywhere, seems that any rubber hose I've come across of late however expensive doesn't last as long as old oem hoses. The Teflon Lined type is much more long lasting.

Don't braided and fully flexible fuel lines tend to emit a bit of a smell? As in fuel?
