Unfortunately there is no grandfathering as there are no documents at all. It would have to go through BIVA, not to difficult apart from obtaining proof of the year of the engine. All a moot point as I believe it has made its last journey.

All you had to do was a V62 form since you know the reg and you’d likely get the logbook. I’m shocked such a cool car ended up in a scrap metal bin.

Haha just read the post properly it was indeed crockpot who built it. It was bloody quick as well, used to go down the Gretton Brook Road like a scalded cat Hi Tim! Hi

This has crossed my mind. However I was 36 when I built that, I'm nearly 66 now and not as fast at builds as I used to be. Also it was built pre-BIVA and I don't believe there is a V5 or any other paperwork with it. So a re-creation would be BIVA bound. Not an issue but I am not aware of Alfa providing dating letters for engines. I also have two ongoing projects which need finishing. As you say the engine looks past it's best (it was a low mileage unit!) and who knows what mechanical mayhem lurks within. Time to say bye. I'm also dealing with my Mum's funeral this Monday coming. There's just no room in my life at the moment. I've got five cars to look after in various states, I need another like a hole in the head right now.
