Thought I had better put up a picture of my junk as I have previously posted on here! I bought this already built but it needs a bit of work to come around to my way of thinking. It's a 1960 Humber Hawk. Power is aRover 3.5 with an LT77 and Chevy 10 bolt axle with LSD. This was my daily until a couple of months back. I've already had to replace the LT77 after the first one destroyed itself and I'm still not happy with the box. Now I have some issues with the engine. Plans are for a disc brake conversion on the front and some lowering (not too much, sleeper mode must be maintained!). As for engine I'm not sure. The more I read about Rovers (and work on them) the more I'm convinced they are not for me. I like American cast iron lumps, Ford small blocks in particular. But I also have a spare 1uzfe... More may follow in due time, arthritis allowing (I'm 63).

Ooooh yes boookmarked, if the rover engine fits the uz1fe will, and the refined power will suit the humber perfectly. Dan

My old man bought a 58 Humber Hawk yesterday and was telling me how there's only 2 on the road. Timing. Will post a pic shortly.

The Ford engine would definitly be the correct period Rootes 'Tiger' option. Although it seems that a small block Mopar would also be 'correct' since a couple of Super Snipes were built that way. Cool car in any case.

Time to start updating some of my sh*t.
The Humber has not been used much over the past year for a variety of reasons. One of them is the very heavy steering at low speeds. As I ease into retirement I need to make life a little easier for myself.
So a few weeks back I purchased a Corsa C power steering column from the Bay of thieves. I got everything including the bottom shaft and steering wheel. No point in being caught out further down the road.
I spent plenty of time measuring up and checking where I thought brackets etc. would go.
Then it was time to get stuck in. Stripped down the Hawk column to bear bones and measured some more.

Notice the wiring! Not mine. it was done by the previous owner, a mechanic. Looks like a rewire is going on the list. HAD A SORTY UNDER THE DASH AND IT LOOKS GOOD. lOTS OF SPACE AND A NICE FOLDED SECTION THAT RUNS ACROSS THE BULKHEAD, IDEAL FOR ABSORBING THE TORQUE REACTION.Aaaagh! bloody cap lock!

Holy thread revival! I like the original and the plans, how are things coming? Sadly the last year and a half has been somewhat trying. My mum is 92 and my brother and I have been sorting her out. Still ongoing.

I had a cut point sorted out but access was not good. I had to do an initial cut above my mark to make room. No going back now!
