I love the style of these, watching with interest No engine swap .. Maybe you get away with the 58 BHP engine from a later 403.....it looks the same. For info / pics / curiosity etc, I've just noticed an advert for a 403 Estate (UK, £4,500 or offers) www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1009352

Hi! nomad:Yes,this 403 is very nice!Looks solid,too... The engine is in pieces....can't believe how rotten all the things are.But no wonder if water/oil sludge have 30 years time to do there "job". The jounals from the crank.... ...but ...i bet with a good clean and a polish this crank will work. Pistons are still fine! But,as you remember,i have a 1500cc "bigblock" ... Now all the parts get a good clean at work.We have a nice parts.washing machine....easy! More to follow.... Greet

I don't think anyone else has noticed but that's quite a special long stroke engine as I have never seen a Flat Plane Crank in a four cylinder of that age most of the Ford four cylinder engine's I have worked on in the past have been Cross Plane Crank engines.
That should make for a nice torque delivery from it when it's rebuilt.

1,3,4,2 I would think as 1 and 4 would be at TDC with 1 being on the firing stroke.

Hi!
It's not a classic long stroke engine.Stroke is only 73mm and bore 75mm.
But it's a modern engine in the 40's when it comes on sale.
Hemispherical combustion chamber (Yes,It's a HEMI!),aluminium-alloy head,wet cylinderliners and 12 volt electric....

Hmm....the lowering job will be a little bit of a nightmare....maybe.... But it has to be lower.... Soon.... Greet Awesome car, good idea with the 'upgrade' for the engine; don't know about you, but I don't like the look of that engine mount there.....

Hi Thorsten a nice and different car to your Ford toys. Are you sure the car was registered in Portugal (e.g reg from P is PG-70-30) as the handpainted registration number on the car is from the Dordogne (24) in France and on top you have weight info on the right sill at the back this was only on commercially used vans ,estate and trucks in France. Or the plates are not from your car!

Hi Totti
Reply from The Guru
Thank you for your message, and nice to knows you're right I don"t know if I can really help you. What I can say is 933 LQ 24 is from 1968, so not at all a first registration BUT you can read on lower right side, just before the rear wing, some marks One is PTC which means Poids Total en Charge. It was (and still is) usual marks of limitation of weighs IN FRANCE. and I think if the car came from Portugal, marks were in portuguese , no ? Sorry, but at the moment, I have nothing to ad Best wishes to you my friend Yves

Hi! @clement :Yes,i changed my job from Audi to classic cars 4 years ago. It's a lot better than the new playstation-cars at all....
But the old stuff makes trouble, too sometimes.... We have a lot of british stuff and Mercedes, mostly high price cars.
And we repair/overhaul carburetors....that's very worthwhile nowadays.
Hope i get the 203 on the road,soon...
Cheers
