currently own two metros at the moment a mk1 metro and this mk3 vvc the mk3 styling just doesn't do it for me, its a nice car but i love the look of the early mk1 metros my mk3 metro has a very good shell with little rust, vvc engine fitted plus all the other mods which makes it a much nicer drive than my mk1 i feel the time has come to combine the two to create a mk1 metro 1.8 vvc van i don't need to take anything of my other metro as i have been collecting parts and have everything i need minus a few small bits which are easy to get hold of van side panels van bulkhead with upper cage and rear floor extension mk1/mk2 tailgate mk1 front recessed lights and rear lights mk1/mk2 front wings new mk1 turbo bonnet MG rear spoiler MG turbo body kit new Richard grant rear lower boot spoiler new autoplas rear louvre new mk1 hle metal front and rear bumpers mk1 lower fuel flap/pocket to be welded in mk2 turbo speedo mk2 door mirrors other mods depending on difficulty when the time comes exhaust side exit through sill full roll cage, if i can get it to fit with the van bulkhead/ floor extension

That's a twist. Fuel filler door & recess sounds a bit drastic as does welding in van window recesses (or do they fit in std seals). Tempting to make a hybrid with existing frt, mk1 bumpers & custom under bumper to retain original paint? Stripes to exaggerate more obvious mk1 side crease?

Stripes to exaggerate more obvious mk1 side crease? lower fuel filler will be welded in but not used , and upper fuel filler welded up, not decided how I'm actually going to put petrol in yet van window panels are originally spot welded in but i plan to bolt them in so they could be removed the k series front end is different to the a series, k series front is longer so front panel will need to be removed and a custom front panel built also the inner wings are a different shape so will need to be modified to fit the older style wings original colour is nice but bodywork has dents and the paintwork is different shades in the sunlight so it will be having full respray in ford stealth grey with a matt black body kit

I didn't even realise the mk3 would accept the panels from a mk1. That's epic.

van side panels fitted i had originally planned to make the side panels bolt in so they could be removed if i wanted to turn it back onto a car in the future but the idea was getting far too complicated so i went for the easy and neatest option of spot welding them in, the same as they where originally fitted panel bond applied to seal and stop corrosion

Very cool, I didn't know you could do that either. The Mk 1 is so much better looking. Bookmarked

Watching this! The MK1 with the body kit is an awesome looking car and it must fly with the 1.8

I never realised you could retro fit mk1 panels on the mk2. Very cool idea.
I actually got looking at a VVC 1.8 metro on eBay last night. Very tempting.
