I'm liking the progress on this. There doesn't have to be a reason for the Chevy badges - if they were ill-fitting then I think it would look odd but the sizing and positioning on front and the concept rear positioning photos make it look factory almost as it's a rare badge-engineered version that was licensed and released in America. For front splitter you've got the option of a mk2 golf gti splitter too, they're pretty flexible and can be cut shorter or spaced out with a piece of plastic or metal in the middle to suit bumper width... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401201888967 Thank you Phil You really seem to "get it" along with some of the guys on here. Badges are just that..... and I just like to make people look two or three times. My older brother drove around in a Mk2 Escort estate for years with an AEC badge on the front grille. He's always been a bit different though! ๐

That's looking really good. Thank you very much Mr Optimist. I suspect the Berlingo will get loads of people outright hating it, and some just laughing at it. May have to change the name from Prozac for the Soul to Marmite for the Soul. Well, if they're laughing at it then I'd consider it: Job Accomplished. As it's all for a bit of fun anyway. Life is far too serious nowadays to not have a bit of fun. And provided you have some French Cheese to go with that Marmite then it's all good! I know someone who makes a mean cheese and Marmite sandwich! And thanks for putting up with me and little Miss Can't Sit Still! PS: The ML has been sold, but for a lot less than planned as it turned out to have mayo in the oil filler, somehow, with checking everything else, I never checked that, duh!! But at least it has gone to a good Polish home. Good result, regardless. Now you have more space for more silliness Or whatever comes next. Thank you Phil You really seem to "get it" along with some of the guys on here. Badges are just that..... and I just like to make people look two or three times. I see some people saying that this may get mixed responses. I think it's pretty awesome! Practical, light hearted, fun, I like it. Make it low, is the rear torsion bar?
Have you lost weight? Need more biscuits! Daz dad always ha a few, he can sort you out!
Keep it up.

I have no idea where to start or what to do, so it's possibly a life saver. Lost weight?? Naaaahhhh. Probably gained. Yes, Darren's dad always has nice stuff, I tend to take cookies, Toblerone etc as well.... nice to share the guilt. its really coming along nicely Grizz... love the red piping on the wheels. taking the body cladding off really cleans up the appearance and is an improvement for sure. JP Thank you JP for your replies. Red is only the start. Hopefully the rest will come together over the next few weeks.

Question time. This has bugged me from day one. Obviously a replacement unit from a breakers yard. Keep in mind, this is a 16 year old car so the old guy who had it for 15 years must have broken a corner. Looking at the top of this light unit, drivers side only...... What is the meaning of this hole in the top. Clearly factory, does not look like there is anything missing, like a cap. Been away since yesterday morning 07.30 for two days training. Thankfully they let us go early today as we sacrificed tea time and worked late yesterday. So on the way home I stopped in at a sign shop in Medway City Estate to get some while vinyl custom cut. Got home, unpacked, dealt with Harley who was very unimpressed and vocal about me leaving her alone with a tin opener and cans of tuna. Then down to the garage to start offering up the white strips I had cut. Wind and cold, late afternoon, meant I only got one side done. Initial mock up. Keeping in mind the rear door needs some slight adjustment inward, the outcome was better than expected. You will also notice that I put a slight rake on the line...... Little by little.

HI Grizz i believe its for the wiring loom on the vans to run through for the rear wipers/door locks/associated gubbins: because yours has the up and over door it will be wired differently to the vans that have the twin rear opening doors HTH

A little black plastic from some donor material epoxied into place would cover that up nicely.

indeed its the difference between barn door and tailgate rear lights, the bulb holders are the same but the light unit itself is different, wiring plug is the same but obviously the loom is a little different.
there are vans with tailgates but not as common as the standard barn doors.

Interestingly the wiper etc has been removed in my car. Not bothered about replacing them as it cleans upthe rear too.

Bloody freezing tonight. After the attack in London yesterday, my boss emailed me last night to say that I should avoid my London bases. On television this morning it was clear that St Thomas' hospital was really a no go area. Just not to add to the stress that the services were under. So when I came home from work tonight Mickey came and helped me get the passenger side White vinyl down, then he scarpered as well, saying the cold in the wind was killing him. After Mickey had left, I trimmed the ends how I wanted them. Then offered the red checkered strips up with masking tape. The wind was soooooo not helping. So I will have to go back to this over the weekend if the weather plays along. For those who do not read all the words or follow it all, the red checkers came with no white background, so I had to create a base for them, while also closing the holes where I had removed the side trim. That was tonight's quick bit of therapy.

Very nice Have you got to get some more red checkers or did you cut them short?
All you need are some hi viz chevrons for the tail gate and your sorted.

Back in my yoof when I hung around on the 106 owners forum they used to bond either 1p or 2p coins behind the holes with tigerseal and then filler over them to get rid of the trim holes when the side strips were removed.
A bodge but it worked.

I guess you only covered the holes in the doors with that white vinyl? Then it might happen that the vinyl gets harder with age and cracks where the holes are under it. So better keep some vinyl squares to close these holes when they appear. Or apply one or two additional small squares already today where a hole is hidden. Coins etc are a great idea. But you will find that all the mods I have done to date are reversable. Just in case a next owner wants to revert to standard. Asfar as the vinyl is concerned, adding layers is very visible. So I will worry about that when it goes bad.
