Hello chaps.
I am after a bit of advice here on something I thought I had a good grasp on, but don't think I actually do.
I am looking at buying a RenaultSport Clio, not a new one but unfortunately not retro either on a 52 plate. This obviously means insurance is going to have to be catered for and annoyingly this model of car I suspect falls into the "you're possibly going to be a liability on the road" category and therefore increased premiums are to be expected.
I have 4 years no claims in a private car, and 3 years earnt on my pick up truck which is annoyingly commercial and as far as I understand can not be combined.
I have been with Adrian flux for many years and they have always been my first port of call and I am sure many of you on here have used them, hence me enquiring on here.
Those of you who have been with Adrian flux, who have you found to quote cheaper?
I have always used the comparison sites online but I've never really found them to be of much use. Depending on what day of the week it is I could run quotes for a micra to a mclaren and the prices will all come back pretty much exactly the same and Adrian flux will then undercut them by about 10%.
Who do you guys use and would you recommend them?

I had a bad experience with Flux the first time I used them with very poor customer service, on my M plate Astra (merit) with Gsi kit, srpings exhausts etc Halifax more than halved what Flux wanted with unlimited mileage to boot, didn't have to jump through all the hoops flux wanted either.

My dad's just insured his van with esure. His no claims are all on a bike which isn't transferable but because my mum is a customer as well, they've mirrored them.

Not a suggestion for you as such, I was with quote me happy which is part of aviva, but they don't insure cars over 13 years old i found out after taking out the policy so was unable to change car several times because they would not insure it due to age of vehicles. Totally ridiculous.

Just tried Halifax and they are currently twice what I am getting quoted elsewhere. Annoyingly.

I used to be with Aviva for a good few years after I passed my test but they just got more and more expensive.

I've used Brentacre and Chris Knott and both been cheaper than quotes via comparison websites. Have to phone them though.
Brentacre insured me on my modified B3 Passat and were very knowledgable about all the mods etc.
Chris Knott insure my 2003 BMW 530i, this policy was effectively new with no no-claims but only cost me £280 fully comp as they took the no claims from my other policy into account. Although Brentacre wouldn't quote me as I'd had no RWD experience at the time.

Thanks for that recommendation. I'm not a million miles away from you so area shouldn't make much of a difference.
I've spoken to Greenlight who have quoted £300 cheaper than Adrian flux, which was the cheapest until now.
However a change of vehicle may be on the cards which should hopefully result in cheaper insurance all together, some firms have even refused to quote, I presume because of the vehicle being high risk or something.

Brentacre are so good I rarely even bother ringing anyone else these days. I value my time so the time spent ringing round going back and forth to beat their price down by a few quid is worth more than what I'd save. I've not paid more than 300 quid on any car or truck I've had with em 2 or 3 have been less than £100.

Unfortunately I have been with flix for 3 years now and they're usually the cheapest come renewal time. However I must confess I've never really looked too hard at better prices. I have however just found that to council my policy with make me £185.17 lighter which I am not happy about, but it is what it is. Dez thanks for the recomendation, bentrace and Greenlight seem to be the best of the bunch. I just wished I had asked this a few months back at renewal time!
