OK, so here it is. I've decided to take the plunge and sell up. i turned 40 late last year and had a massive refocus of life etc. decided i was doing too much spannering and not enough driving, coupled with being an organiser of coventry motofest the RetroWarwick classic car show, family , work etc etc. I'm currently working on the Covin Nein12 project which is still going 3 years later...so you can see my frustration.
BHR800L has been an ongoing project since 1999/2000 so not an easy decsion to sell. I've always owned minis but old car interests are taking me down a different route. The MoT expired about 2 years ago, prior to that it was doing less than 100 miles a year so realistically i'm not going to get round to a)finishing it off and b) using it. So I want to move it to a new home so i can refocus efforts into one epic classic car.
Its built to fast road spec but almost hillclimb/sprint weekend warrior spec. Fitted with a tonne of bling tuning bits. 0-60 sub 6seconds. Tops out at 116mph. Its very light, so around 650kgs.V5 in my name, correctly registered with 1998cc engine capacity. i had it corner weighted , so coupled with equal length driveshafts there is neglible torque steer. Progress is brisk enough using up to 40% throttle. Any more than 40% throttle and its like firing a 50calibre - just grip the wheel tight and hold on. its very fast. it'll hold off stuff like e46 M3's up to about 80/90 mph.
main points are:-
- Engine is 1998cc twincam redtop unit from a cavalier GSI (DISPAC so no dizzy). Has got about 93k on it and was in rude health.
- MBE mappable injection and MBE redtop specific engine loom, running through Suzuki hayabusa throttlebodies. conservatibe 150bhp (has more to offer) 140lbs torque
- Full off-the-shelf Allspeed Engineering big block kit (superb quality build) including jigged subframe, rose jointed arms, one piece 300bhp driveshafts, rally spec allspeed 300bhp cv joints
6 point bolt in fia spec cage (with welded in spreader plates), with door bars and harness bar.
- standard F20 5 speed gearbox
- metro front hubs (better balljoints)
- 7.9" vented discs running minsport alloy 4pot calipers
- period 6x10 miniights (inc spare) repowdercoated and running new tyres all round
- injection fuel tank with optional auxillary right hand tank (14-15 gallon total capacity)
- light weight rear beam with uber rare lightweight steel hillclimb spec radius arms
- good solid shell with fibreglass roof skin. paint is average-to-scruffy but ideal as rat spec/sleeper.
- black buckets with 5 point TRS harnesses.
- GAZ coilovers all round
Its not on the road, so will need trailering but runs and rolls (i'll need to drop the oil and check the fluids though). Needs lot of bits and bobs finishing off eg ideally it need a new car loom which i can supply, sorting out dash gauges, trim etc. Currently fitted with a driver bucket and mini passenger seat but can supply the passenger bucket to swap over and mini drivers seat.....
Priced at a very fair £6500 considering the kit on offer.
not included is the cibies spots and the rear reversing lamp but there is a stack of parts etc included with the car.
