My old man was a ford guy, so my childhood was Sierra's, my mum had them too cos my dad was in charge of what she drove had them all up to an RS500 but the one that sticks in my mind is this 1.6l, no idea why. Helped him put a 2.0 pinto in and 5 speed box, distinctly remember getting to put the 5 speed knob on and thinking I'd done the conversion myself.. was mint and sold in 2002 when he fell ill, looked for it for a while and it turned up on eBay a year or so ago, almost cried with what had been done to it, half a fibreglass body kit and 17 different colours What car of your folks sticks in your mind?

I also spent a lot of time in many Sierras when I was growing up (explains a lot!) as well as many mk2 Cavaliers, there were also mk2 Astras, Montegos and quite a few Fiestas. Good times!

My grandads blue mk1 mondeo sticks in my mind, apart from 'helpin' (read watching) an alternatir change nothing mechanical happened to it, but so many memories of that car. I do keep an eye peeled for a photo of itsl showing its numberplate, so i could see if its still around. He Had a nice mk4 escort beforehand too, i guess were a ford family! (Grandad and loads of otherrelatives qorked for Ford so not really a surprise!) Sierra sounds mint btw. ☺

Some 4 door alpha and 2 door alpha Stacklight merc in gold opel record in gold volvo 240 estate (first car id seen with electric windows! Morris minors mini van comma van comma campa A pair of mk2 consuls mk3 zephyr 4
My mum had a e type but sold it kust before I was born.
We never had any modern cars, trips from london to liverpool to visit nan were done in the classics.
Step dads friends raced mk2 escorts and v8 mgb. I spent alot of time over their workshop, bodywork business and jag breakers so there was always interesting classics and race cars about.
I guess my automotive path was laid out from an early age.

The first car I can remember is a prewar Austin 16 followed by a 50s Austin Somerset and a 59 Simca Aronde 1300. My dad was always tinkering on a Sunday but I never got to help much, despite being a petrolhead from age 3. Dad and mum split up in 63 when I was 8 and the next car in our house was mine in 1971, a 56 MG Magnette ZA.

My dad was not into cars at all and usually drove something a few years old. I can remember a Ford Anglia with the reverse slope back window, an Austin Cambridge, a Ford Corsair, a Hillman Minx, and an Austin 1100. He changed jobs in the early 70s and had a couple of Mark 1 Escorts as company cars. Another job change meant it was back to private cars, a Hillman Hunter then an Austin Maxi.
My mum passed her test when I was about five or six. Her first car was an Austin A35 followed by a Mark 1 Ford Capri. I loved that car! Bright red with a black vinyl roof, matt black bonnet, and a whiplash aerial about six foot long! Later she had a Morris Marina Coupe in 70s-tastic purple.

Always vans or estates because of the family business. Memories? Driving from Cheshire to Grange-over-Sands every third Sunday with my Dad to visit my miserable old Grandfather, in one of these... with one a bit like this hanging off a piece of wire... listening to the BBC Light Programme, on and off! It used to take forever, but Dad loved the the Preston By-pass (later to become part of the M6, for the kiddies), where he could really let 'er rip. So to speak. In a valiant effort to keep his son entertained, we'd pretend we were in a Lancaster bomber, dropping our load up(?) onto the bridges as we went under. God knows why, my Dad was in tanks in WW2! I remember the 70mph limit being introduced, not that it made the slightest bit of difference to the old Commer! After that, a succession of Vauxhalls - Victors and 101s until eventually, after a string of dead ones caused by hauling tons of bedding plants and compost, he went the Volvo route. The only thing it left me with? An abiding dislike of Grange-over-Sands. Edit. Forgot to add my Mum's first car (she was a terrible driver) was a red Mini Traveller. I swear if my bedroom had been downstairs, I'd have been sleeping on the drive.

When i was born my dad had Farinas, a Wolseley 16/60, Wolseley 6/110, and a couple of Austin Cambridges. He wasnt a ford man at all but breifly he had a dark blue Cortina mk2 1600E until the boot floor fell out, then there were Austin Maxis. Alot of Austin Maxis. Shortly followed by some more Austin Maxis.

Triumphs, my dad had a Herald 1200 new and later a 1300TC with wood etc. Then a couple of Austin Maxi's. My Mum had a Renault R8 that I had for a year after passing my test it then went to my sister
He never really had anything interesting or an interest in cars so I don't know where my interest came from. I tried and failed to get him to buy something interesting.

From my Dad, I remember; MK3 Transit van (Yellow, BT) 1976 Beige Volvo 240 Red Fiat Uno Champagne colour Vauxhall Carlton CDi Silver MK2 Scirroco (glovebox caught fire with me in the car ) Red MK2 Astra SXi Red pre facelift SR Nova (told him to keep hold of that for my first car lol) And a 1983 Landy 110 van (ex seeboard but matt green over the bright orange) Forgot about the VW LT camper van, that was pretty cool. Black and red, with airplane seats in the middle From my Grandad I remember; Rover SD1 Nissan Bluebird hatchback When I started my Saturday job (13YO), I was being picked up and dropped off in MK2 Astra max's, MK2 Astra GTE's (1.8's, 2.0 8 and 16valvers, with and without extra doors), MK3 Cavaliers, both GSi and Turbo's and 2wd Sapphire Cosworths. Funny enough, it was then when I really started getting into cars. My first drives (13YO on private land) were Astra GTE's and SR Novas I also remember my uncle had a MK3 Fiesta, must've been brand new at the time. I've not got a great love for them though.

I grew up in north wales, born in 81.
I recall a black mk1 cortina being in the garage for years, a mini moke kit car part built and a rotten Morris Minor, my recollections of the dailys are vague but they were a brown renault 11 and a yellow hillman hunter estate.
the ones I do remember were the red phase2 305 GR estate with a Petrol engine, 1580 Xu with a car I believe, scuttle panel rotted through and filled the glovebox with rainwater!
about 1990-91 my mum bought a 505 gti familiale, was a Midnight blue phase2 from 1986, she had that till 1997, my parents split, the car was really poorly so she gave it to my dad and bought a phase1 305 with a 1.4 suitcase engine, 4 speed and sod all brakes.
1998-9 along came a MK3 transit 120 semi high panel van 2.5 Di, we lived in Barry by then and all 4 of the kids were into bike racing, as were the kids of the owner of th Barry bus comany, body was dark blue with 4 white doors, so inevitably it ended up in barry bus red with a side window and a bench seat!
2001 mum sold the van and bought a 170k mile 95 405 TD estate, which still lives on to this day and currently has over 360k miles on the clock.

Lots of BMC stuff and a few other things. Both sets of grandparents were serial BMC owners which has made a permanent impression on me. Mum's dad had a Morris 1100, then a 1300, then a 1750, I think, Marina which he bought new and kept immaculate until he died in 2000. Dad's dad had a Mk3 Zodiac when I was born cos he'd had a row with the Standard Triumph dealer after refusing him a case of whiskey as a bribe to jump up the waiting list for a new car to replace his Phase 2 Vanguard, then went to BMC with a Tasman, a Kimberley, and two Allegro 1500 automatics, followed in 1981 by an EN1 Civic which I still have although it is well rust shagged and will never be road legal again. Dad has never been a car enthusiast. His first car was a Standard 10, then a 1970 Isuzu Bellet which he bought new and kept for ten years, a '76 Corona 2 litre sedan (which went pretty hard), a 1.6 Mk5 Cortina wagon (under powered pos), then a series of new Nissans including two Sentras, two Navaras, and a recently purchased Pulsar. Along the way there were also a '74 B1600, the '80 Hilux that I passed my licence test in, and another Navara, all purchased second hand.

When I was young, my Father had a Corsair in green with green interior. I still want one to this day. The most memorable though was his Audi Coupe which he bought in 1978. I was the coolest kid in my school because of it and only lost the title when my Pals Dad got himself a Rover SD1 V8 with ELECTRIC WINDOWS! My Dads was the same as this except dark maroon in colour.

Whatever was cheap mostly. Earliest memory was a Suzuki Van that was done up for my dad's business. Had a pitched roof and was signwritten with monkeys on a ladder. Went to Cornwall sat on a tent in the back of that. Funny story though, We tipped up at a petrol station and got our camping table out ready to start some breakfast (we'd driven through the night) My mum concluded we were in a place called "Shop" as that's what it said on the petrol station. Mum went to get some matches to light a camping stove, and the shop assistant went ballistic that we were going to spark up said camping stove on the forecourt. After that, we had a couple of granada 2.8's, one that didn't even make it home from buying it. Couple of panda's including a Sisley (One painted pink with dulux well before the Pink Panda craze) Ice Cream Van (which doubled as our family car, 4 people, 1 seat) and a few landies. Mate's dads car are the ones that stick with me most. They always took me on holiday with them as we could never afford to go. Carlton GSi 3000 24v was the first car he had I remember, then chopped it in for a Volvo 850R, also with a funny story Another mate's dad passed his test quite late on, and decided that the perfect first car was a Mk2 Granada 2.8i Ghia. I don't remember a straight panel on that car

My dad was always changing cars to whatever was super cheap. I think these days it's known as bangernomics back then it was known as being from Wigan! The ones that stick were.
Citroen BX GT in Black Citroen BX Estate. About 4 Bay window VW campers. A blue T25 BRG Montego Estate Silver/gold Montego GSI Estate. Blue/green Montego Estate. (Montegos must have been super cheap!) Gold B2 Audi 80. Vaguely remember a 70's Vauxhall of somekind. Blue Maestro.
I notice that the thing I have taken from all these is a very strange (read bad) taste in automobiles and I also don't like paying money for cars!
