Hi all !
So so doing the timing in my crusty old beetle today - I looked into getting a pulley with go faster timing marks on it - £40 plus for the pulley from eBay ..... well with a million more mechanical bits to buy to better the engine running , a shiner new pulley is not in my budget .
so I do design and cad work - drew out a template , stuck on the pulley and used a hand impact engraver I had through the paper and it worked a charm !!!!
Now i I know you perfectionists out there will be horrified but it worked for me - my timing is now perfect and it's marked for future reference . If anyone wants the file or wants one ready to print for themselves drop me a message with the outer diameter of your pulley and I'll do one to suit ( scaling the template will not effect the degrees on the template - it will stay true )
will work well on aluminium pulleys - you could also use a dremmel to just mark a few lines or just pull it off and replace another print out as you need it !
