Great progress nice work !! Thank you for the kind words  The day finally arrived, I had a new appointment at traffic station to be registered, this time a different place (Kristiansand). I had to wait in the waiting room while they took it to the hall for check, photos etc. 3 hours later my car was finally ready, the only step now now to be road legal was to order license plates and fit them. The red plates seen on my car is norwegian test plates, these can be bought for one or two days, if you need to move your vehicle to sell it, register it or test it. Many use them to get their non registered cars to shows, etc, but you are not allowed to do that so most people come up with a excuse why they need them. Years ago, you could buy for 3 days, but the were too many people that took advantage of that, so they binned the 3 day rule. Anyway here is my car parked outside the traffic station hall    I celebrated by driving the long way home, nice weather was nice too!   Enjoyed the drive was the understatement of the year!!  So much nicer to look at a black dashboard than the red one, that's for sure!!!! Reminded me of that it allmost looks completly different than 5 months earlier, thank goodness for that!  The following weekend I attended our local annual Capri BBQ fest, at last I could enjoy it a bit   The location for the Capri BBQ party is beautyful   The next day, Sunday, we drove home and I stopped by the local Ford dealership in my hometown, for some arty farty pictures... 
The next big thing was to attend the annual norwegian Capri meeting, that was held in Gol 18-20th August 2012.
And I crossed my fingers and toes that I would receive my licence plates before those dates, or else I would have to buy some more test plates to be able to drive (they also include insurance), and as everything else here in Norway they are a bit pricey...
So for the next days I sorted out small things that needed to be done, incl stereo as my mate that would take the passanger seat can't travel without music....
I was lucky as my plates turned up 2 days we needed to travel for the Capri meeting..
As I like to drive, I decided to take the longer but scenery route from Arendal.
Out route would be Arendal-Åmli-Brunkeberg-Odda-Gol, about 350miles one way..
We started off a bit later than we planned to, and we hastly made a new parcel shelf because most speakers were dead and it was sliding all over the place..
Anyway here are we approx 60miles into the trip at Nissedal, sadly it was cloudy/rainy the whole way...
25miles later or so, a bit of road I really like, look at the hairpins on the GPS!
At bottom of those hairpins..
A little later we stopped for some food.
Me having a cheeseburger with fries and coke, was good indeed!
A hour later we were at the mountains and tunnels, my led instruments are bright, but my camera can't get it right
Going down, and into that valley we shall go!
Then we stopped at Låtefoss, just outside Odda, this part of west Norway I like very much as my mom orginally came from Odda.
Notice my license plates, I could choose any numbers that were still available in the book, mine being my birthdate and my HP goal with my next engine
Sadly it got darker after that point, my last picture was in the end of the next fjord where they build a new bridge, we came 3 days too early to see it open. You can just make it out way out there..
Next morning this happend, some washing was needed after 350miles on the road in bad weather...
Capri cleaned and our cabin for the weekend behind it..

Current story is still at August 2012... I love driving, the longer, the better, especially in my Capri. So for the return leg from the Capri meeting I took a different route via Oslo as there was a VW show in Oslo, and since I'm a bit interested in them (got the interest from my late dad that was a VW man his whole life), I wanted to check them out. Just as we had begun our home trip, there were a Police control a bit down the road. The Police officer was very nice and interested in my Capri, and he also know what kind of car that was, a rare thing these days.. After some chatting and a alcohol test, I was waved off.. This is just after the Police control checkpoint  A bit further down..    As I came to Oslo there were plenty of old vw's on the the road so I diden't bothered to visit the car show as it was a bit late. Here is some of the car I saw    Got a bit late before I was home again.. This is approx 1 hour away from home.  |

The waterfalls and snowie mountains are very nice Thank you very much, more pictures are coming up The following week I was 2 times up in the mountains 3 hours away. First time with my mate to check the cabin in the next picture, as he had bought it and the owners needed it to be moved away as they getting a new bigger cabin built at the same location. In the following chaos to direct the moving truck on site, securing straps etc, I forgot my glasses at the location. Me being using non standard glasses needed them, so a few days later me and my mate who was my co pilot at the Capri meeting joined me for the trip.. Here we have taken a pit stop for some food...  A few miles up the road..  2 hours later we have arrived at the cabin located in Hovden, Setersdal. The cabin have been chopped in three seperate parts, and the first one was taken away with us a few days earlier..   Cabin looked like this from the other side.  Soon got overcast and started to be a bit windy, so time to get down from the mountain..  3-400 yards up it was a parking lot at the ski resort, we turned around and headed home bound  Any later and it would have been a tad wet and windy....  We drove a short while the same road we came up, then turned left and took a mountain road we never had taken before. Twisty road with very little traffic, made it very fun to drive along at 50-65mph. 2 hours later we were at more familiar grounds..     A poser LOL  Very happy how the painted rear clusters turned out, too bad my camera don't capture it well..  350 miles later and we were home again.. |

One thing that bothered my since I got it was the flaking paint on the front spoiler. So the next week after the last trip I put the front on some axle stands to get a better working height...  Diden't look that smart up close   The other side was even worse...   A Capri without a front spoiler looks a bit helpless to me, so it needs to be refitted ASAP!  Made a simple work table with the things I had, 2 euro pallets and a plate of wood...  And then the part which I hate, bodywork! Scaped the loose bits of, sanded it as good as I could and put on some filler, think this is skim 1, and 3 or 4 in total...  Tired, but happy, warm weather helped to   And this is why I HATE blended in bodyparts, a big PITA to deal with on later stage.. This was allmost 2cm thick, sadly same story for the side/rear skirts and the rear spoiler..  Getting there..  Painted it flat black to mimic the orginal rubber one and refitted it..  September 1th 2012 I visited a local Ford meeting, open For all kinds of older Fords..  I left the filler on the wings stay as it was, so it would still blend in after fitting my spoiler..  My favorite car that day was this Taunus Coupe 2.3S I belive it was.   A month later I took a photoshoot of my own car, these are some selected out of the lot..         Next up will garage pictures when I began to torn down the car and it when I foun horror stories... |

Winter came and I bought some Pug Partner 14" wheels, complete with good winter tire, bolted right on! The 13" RS wheels was given back to my mate as his wheels was not longer needed..   Garage was cleaned, and my new work bench was bolted up as well..  The garage is not isolated, nor have it heating either, so I bought a diesel heater on a norwegian auction site for cheap. 30kw should do it  Nice and toasty   So the date is 14th December 2012 and the start of the rebulding started. First a pizza...  First the rear seat and doorcards were removed. Notice the gold door...  Drivers door is yet in another color... Also notice no plastic behind the doorcards, no wonder is was damp in there when I bought in Lithuania..  Seats out, capet looks good for its age, just need a good clean  The foam that usually is secured to the body behind the plastic side panels is mostly gone. My car is from factory a Stratos Silver, no fan og silver cars either  If you look carefully you can see the spotwelds in there, so that means it had new wheelarches fitted at some point, but you can't see a cut line or stitch welding evidence, so this means new wheelarches over the factory ones, bodge job nr 1 That who looks like a cut line is actually the drain tube for the sunroof..  Same for the other side, no foam pads left  Bodge job nr 2, double layer wheelarches here as well, and building foam, you are going to see this stuff later on, read on..  See the red spots, that's old reapair jobs, which both have a big crack in them. Eusty drain plugs, but that's normal for these cars, rest of area looks ok This is left side rear floor  Just in this pic, you can see a big patch, this was easly chisled away later, holding in place with help of rivets, tack welds, glassfiber and sealant. There is also a patch on the underside, yep they haven't bother to even cut out the rust!  Seems ok...?  At least my stereo wiring job was better quality than the previous owners work...   Subwoofer bye bye  Carpet and seats out..  Seems sound under the rear seat area (front of sitting couch part is resting on the beam when fitted)  Badly done reapair patch in driver side rear floor, common rust spot  Same for the other side  Half arsed rived on plate in the inner sill driver side, both front and rear part, why do they bother at all?  ??    Mostly sealant holding it in place, weak rivets and only riveted half of the holes..  At least the boot floor have not got more rust than last time, just a couple of holes here..  Got bored one evening so we began to poke on the rear spiler area, ready for filler?  Nearly 1.5cm thick at the lip pf the spoiler  They have both used glassfibre and filler  And yes it's a genuine rubber turbo spoiler under there!!!  See how thick some part was?? This was about 2cm thick..    At the end it was about 10 pounds of filler on the floor!!!!!!   |

Moved the car out for some garage cleaning..  The HD tailgate dampers works very well  Next task was to remove the sound deadener from the floor panels, good news that part looks solid.. I used a heatgun and a scraper..  No nasty surprice here either, just the spots I saw before prior to the sound deadener removal  But that nasty patch.....grrrrrrrrr  See the slabbed seam sealer that goes up a bit on the kick panel, that must hide something nasty as well I bet..  Don't like it one bit!!!  Front inner sill on passanger side don't look to smart either, I was right, read on..  That spot looks like it have been wet..  Some minor rust spots inside the A post, but not bad at all  Major bit of driver side kick panel looks sound, just nasty repairs around corners  Big crack in the seat mounting location  Then I poked a bit with screwdriver at the inner sill. The complete front half of the inner sill was full of expanding foam, not good  A patch can also be seen half way between the panels  A bit better picture of the horror  Removed the sound deadener, ugly patch here too  This thick wall tube was found laying inside the frame rail where the drain plug used to be  Most of the floor is good tho  So is the rear part of the floor on same side, just the patch area gone bad..  Removed the sound deadener under the rear side to, glad to see it being solid as there is double layer floor here   |

These pictures was taken Jan 2013', so still loads to take from to get up to current status. Anyway, pulled off the rear bumper to start with..  The sideskirts was ripped of with my bare hands, and they was very thin and flimsy. Front wing rear corner looked solid, but the metal was like wet cardboard, no good  Sills are actually in good nick, just don't look like they are...  Here we are looking at the front lower corner of the quarter wings, those of you who knows Capris, know there should be a seperate line between sill and wing, but not here.. The second set of wheelarch is slapped on top of that too, bodge job indeed!!!  Yep that's two layers of wheelarches, grrrrr  Holy feck, that's both inner and outer part of rear lower corner rusted to bits!!! Think this is the main reason who it had a bodykit, I suspect it was allready rusted back then in late 80s or so..   Rear valance looks ok tho. Notice the 3" pipe welded over the orginal exhaust tip lol  Right side lower corner is not good either...  And this side shows very clearly the second wheelarch on top of the orginal  Sill ok here too, with just a tiny hole in the middle  Front wing rear corner a tad better than the other side, but not good in any means. Feels like wet cardboard.  Was a bit nosey, so I sanded a bit in the front as the front valance had got a little smack in the former life...  And yet again they have used filler to make the valance lip under the headlights to meet the wing. About 1cm difference.  Can see a hole in the front end of the right side sill behind the wing...  |

Next was to take the front wings off...  I di cut of the wing mounting flange at the A post, as it was thin  Also chopped off the wing rail as it was rusted allmost the entire length  Kick panel area look solid, or...? Shall we give it a poke....?  At first it looked like it was allmost solid, so I took a angle grinder with wirebrush, and whoop, 1 sec later there was nothing left. This is after a poking with a screwdriver..  Pitted and holes in the door opening reinforcement area under the windshield  A post needs a reskin for about 60% of the area to be solid  I started to collect small items to be fitted when done.. These bot lamps was bought cheap from ebay  Then a big parcel from Tickover in UK arrived. This contains most of the new panels, door seals and small bits..  The box contained among other things, these, strut top repair plates  Rear valance and sill ends  Doorseal...  Also got myself a welding machine and a gas bottle, btw is stupid expensive  The ugly homemade strut top reinforcement plates needed to go, a air chisel did a short process of that   Strut tower is solid, but as you can see the strut top plate have holes in them  Plenty of holes infact..  This was why I bought new repair panels as I don't wanted to weld here and there, better to chop it out as much as needed  The fit of the Magnum panel is curse word btw  The marker line show how bigger the repair panel was to begin with, but it had utter curse word ftment and the but downwards the chassis leg looked like folds in old lady skirts.  Chopped it out  Cleaned it up and had on some Volvo weld throu primer  Welded in  Then begun to repair the seat mountings  Chop chop   Welded in  Some paint to protect the new metal  Next one    |

My mate had chopped up a 2.8I he had imported from UK, I could have some parts from. Right side kickpanel, A post and front half of inner and outer sill was the part I needed the most as mine was not looking good at all..    First I removed the outer sill part to see what nick the inner sill area was, not to bad..  Took off the inner part..  At this point I found out I sucked big time at welding and fabricate metal parts  Then I cut out the worst rusted sections of the cick panel area  That made it a bit open, haha  At this point I cleaned off the underseal from the donor A post section, only to discover it had the same rust at the same spot at mine, gutted.. To cheer me up a bit, I ordered these wheels from ebay. These are a staggered set of Dare RS wheels in 16x8+9 with ET20 front and rear.  A week later or so...  Metal work have never been my strong points, so to get my mind on something else I took a better look at my seats. At first glanse the seat and doorcards seems far better than they actually are... Here is one of the doorcards As you can see, the chrome trim is not straight, infact it is a universal glue on item. The stitches also seems to be done by one of Steve Wonder cousins I reckon But the foam stuffing and softnes to the vinyl is good tho  Chrome trim lifting  Let's take a look at the backside shall we? Yep, that's the just a retrim on top of the orginal black S trim  Some places the vinyl is becoming unglued to the wood  Retrim of the rear doorcards is, just let us say no quality job  Rear doorcards also have a big hole, seems bigger than a normal size speaker so don't know what happend here in the past. My plan is to use wire mesh when retrimming and MDF in the bodywork to hold a speaker, should be a lot stronger...  Rearseats is also poorly done and missangled backing don't help either  Not how it should be done...  They also used too little foam in the seats..  Oversized covers and too little foam have also resulted in tear where the rear seat hinge are located   Electrical wire to hold down the seat cover, really?  Back to welding then... Front seat mount on the other side also needed to be done. But I kept blowing holes regardless how I tried..   This was even when using new metal to weld in.... curse word............!  At this point I was fed up with welding and my eyes don't like welding at all, I can't see curse word while welding even with the best of welding mask, I needed help, but no one had time, live to far away or don't bother to help me out... I was serously loosing interest here.. Needed to do other stuff to get me motivated, so I tested my new wheels. 9" in the rear fits really well   And clears everything with room to spare  Seat mounts got marked where to cut next time if I could get some help...   The worst bit of the rear lower corner behind the rear wheelarch were cut to see what I got...  Cleaned and sprayed till next time I could get some help  Same was done on the other side  Tested the new panel and it was miles away, no wonder due the double wheelarch  Going first  Going second  Going third  Sold to the guy in the right corner lol  Pretty it ain't   Removed the rubber seal thingy  |

Timeline here is March/April 2013 A Capri trip with a mate resulted in a wiring loom for my 2.9 12v engine, it is incomplete as it missing several connectors, but it was all I could get hold of at that time  New wheel stem valve covers was also bought  New tools   A four spoke RS steering wheel was also bought but later sold again New wheelarches was included with my car when I bought it  Seems to fit, covers the rusted areas anyway..  Drivers footwell, not looking forward to this...  Not this either...  Unbolted the mirrors from the doors so I would not knock them off..  At last the inside of doors are very good!!  Seems I jumped around a lot at that time, but it did not seemed like it when I was in the garage... Anyways I wanted to test the front wheels, and to be able to do that I needed longer studs to fit some 20mm spacers to clear the strut. The brake disc needed to be taken off to get the longer studs in, and since I did not own a vice, simplest metod is to located the complete hub in the wheel senter to get the disc bolts  Longer studs and spacer  8" fits well ET20 + 21mm spacer = ET-01   Plenty of room here   I then wanted to see what condition the fuel tank was in, same with the area above.. Used loads of penetration oil but the bolts snapped and the fuel straps was soft and bendy. Thankfully I ordered stainless steel bolts and straps when I ordered from UK a while back..  Fuel tank is very good, a good thing!  Just some minor surface rust  Needed to do some stuff at home to be able to feel like it going somewhere. So I made a blanking plate for the inlet manifold  At home I cleaned the carb externly till I got the overhaul kit    |

Then there was allmost nothing appening for a whole year. March 2014 The old ladys car were sold so the garage was not that cramped anymore, but then I broke up my Mk1 Mondeo Estate for parts, so the extra space wanished as fast as it came. Garage cleaned and car up on axle stands again  Just some light surface rust here and there, nothing major  I bet that diff cover is no good, my mate has a spare one when that time comes  I have a complete 2" exhaust system to replace the leaking orginal one  The former owner welded a 3" pipe to the orginal muffler  Why you should NOT buy Flo-flex poly bushings, the fitment is curse word!!  Koni shocks, good stuff in my book   While I walked past my car last winter with my winter clothes the wing catched my clothes and ripped of the sill end. As you csan see, plenty of rust   Dirty clown engine bay  More clown colors, what were they thinking of when painting this?  Sadly the landlady of the garage died in fall 2013, I got permission of the relatives to use it for now. But this sad fella was her cat, no one was looking after him so I fed him whenever I visited the garage as I felt so sad for him. I could not take him home with me as my cat don't go well together with other cats. Sadly the poor fella was found dead in May, in the garage next door as he had got bitten by a snake, and since he was so weak he died shortly after, before we found him. Me and that garage owner fed him and the other cat that came from the lady. The female cat was taken care of by next spring, but she had a hard time during the winter by flocking fur and little food. We fed this female cat as good as we could as well, but she took trips to the woods now and then so it could go long time before we saw her next time.. I love cats btw, and it's heartbraking for me to see animals suffer. And as a footnote, my own cat is called Capri, should come up as no surprise LOL  |

May came and the new owner needed the garage for himself, so I had to leave in a few weeks. No new garage was found, but in meantime I had to pack my car to get ready for the move.... Fuel tank was remounted with the new straps/bolts  Door were fitted  Rear bumper fitted  Wings hung on, together with the front bumper  Stuff going in  More stuff   A few weeks later it was moved to a non lockable shed, rent was free, so it had to work for now...  Nowember 2014 saw my mate Kris from Ireland visiting me, I had a great time, too bad we had really bad weather, with floods in most of the south and west of Norway Here is some pictures he took    Then we visited my mate with his imaculate Turbo Technics 230 Capri    Then we visited my other mate with his 2.9 BOA Cosworth powered Capri    Then a roadtrip... Fiberglass filler skim on the rear arch  Other side welded as well and that also got a skim of filler   Area above the wheelarch got a bit warped, hope they will fix that  Then I took off the left wing   In the past the front valance have been dented  More niticeable in the real  Before this picture I removed a chuck of filler from that hole   Same story as the other side, just totally rusted out here. The whole sill was also filled with foam as the other side, bleh    And this hole was filled with fiberglass patch, what's wrong with people? ??   June 2015 Weather was nice and hot so the carpet was power washed and scrubbed till it was very clean and smelling lovely. Was not that dirty, but the smell on the other hand...   My mate lend me some tires so I culd test me fitment. Tire is going to be 225/40-16, slight stretch and same diameter as a standard tire. Measured 10.5cm from top of wheel to wheelarch, mind you it is empty here..     And here a piece of wood as a ruler to show that the weelarch lip and wheel lip is on line with each other..   It was at this point my mates brother who will do most of the bodywork had to take a sickleave for a long periode of time due tendonitis in his albow... |

Oct 2015 Car needed to be moved to another lockup at the same yard as I took up needed space.. You know the drill by now, don't you? lol Wings and bumpers refitted    And this is about how I want it to look in the end, just a tad lower.... Do you like??  March 2016 Weather was getting warmer so it was perfect for painting etc.. Wanted to get some of the interior bits done.. First up was the heater, it needs a good clean and rebuild  Here is the resistor that make the fan go on low speed, while mounted in the car this sit on top of the heater close to the bodywork. The round bit on top is where the fan motor sits, and this bit goes into the heater cowl for those not familiar how things goes together under the dash....  Here you see the heater motor and this is why the whole heater assembly have to come out of the car to change that motor as it is held in place of the two halves that make the heaterbox. It is VERY common for these motors to stick or scream like a big in the blender. My motor spins freely thankfully, but as you may see there have been folks at it before as the clip that holds the "motorcage" is missing. BTW, some of the older Merceds cars use the same Bosch motor.  Here is one half of the heaterbox removed. The foam on the flaps was crumbling and it was very dirty inside.  Flaps and heater matrix removed  For now the first part of the heaterbox is removed, flaps has been grinded of the foam coating (was a pig to do) and new foam installed to heater matrix and flaps. Flaps and matrix resting in the heater half. Here is how the orginal wiring is routed on the motor  This is a common sight, rusted resistor, but thankfully it is not broken and works just fine. Will not mess too much with this as they are notorious to break when handled, as the get crisp by the heat from the ristor and age. Also the lip the resistor plate sits in is where the fan blade need to stop if you want to change the motor for a non orginal item, e.g Corsa B motor.  Here is the bits back in the correct side, flaps is lubed in the pivot points and the motor is cleaned with electrical cleaner. Everything was checked with a rc battery before I snapped on the other half of the heater box. Even my resistor worked ok  Then I masked off the outlets, resistor and fan shroud, hung it up in a elastic cable outside and painted it with black plastic paint.   And then let it hang in the hallway overnight  More painting  |

Nice work it's coming long well! Thanks! April 2016 Nothing much had happend during winter 2015/16, but April came and my car was dragged into the workshop on the other side of the yard and put on axle stands.     Then I unbolted the doors     Removed rear lights and boot spoiler  There is plenty of small areas that needs attention  The home made strut top reinforcement on the right here needs to be removed, and new wing rails on both sides is also on the cards   And the area which worried me most was this area on top of the light bucket/front of inner wing. Way back, someone cut off some of the rust and just put on this ugly plate over it, even I could do better job than this and I suck at panel beating!  Rusty on top at the inside of the headlight bucket, the long bit behind it was covered with a fiberglass bit and then some sort of black sealer, horror!  Dented valance still to do   Right hand side looks ok  Other side not so much....  Front section looks ok tho', apart from the light bucket mentioned earlier  Plenty of filler here... arrgggghhhh  This is not good, but I guess it's better than most rotten UK cars I've seen...  The sunroof sliding parts was removed so the headliner could be taken down as it needs replacing and I don't want overspray on these either.. I measured every gap before I begun to dismantle it, also have a new wire for it in my parts bin as well as mine was sloppy and hard to turn.        Windscreen taken out as well, luckly no rust were found! Also going to change the window rubber to the correct type as the chrome insert type is for the Mk2, Mk2 S models used black inserts, but from 78' and onwards they only used the solid variants with a change in 82' for a bigger rubber/smaller window.  Tailgate window was also removed, window frame were good here too  May 2016 Finally some more bodywork were started The badly homemade strut top reinforcement plate from driver side were removed  The part under that plate that is apart of the inner wing where very thin most places so it made some holes during removal of the reinforcement plate..  Soft rusty steel, so this will be replaced  Cut out the bad steel  Cleaned  New section was cut out from a repair panel that had a really bad fitment, choose to only keep the flat part  Also removed most of the sound deadener on the bulkhead as some was cracking and some bits in the edges were missing, luckly no rust here either  Very happy with the condition of the heater bowl  My mate then welded in new sill end, looking nothing like the orginal, but better sound than nothing at all  Then he welded the rear footwell holes in the floor. I'm going to remove the sealant later on as I don't like that stuff on top of raw steel, I will rather paint/rust primer it then sealant and then paint, will do this everywere but for now this will portect it from the elements  Seat mounts welded   Inner sill sealed, not to my standards as I want a new sill, but I can oly afford my mate to weld my car and he is not the best at it, but better than nothing...   Floor welded and sealed, he grinded on some other bits, that's why it looks like that  How I left it that day..   |

June 2016 Last time my mate welded both the suspension strut top plate and the outer wheelarch to the inner wheelarch. As I know I need my rear arches rolled to get my desired hight together with my wheels I have choosen, I started to roll my arch...   My mate in Oslo had a light bucket bowl cut out from a donor car I could have, that was great as this was exactly what I needed! Upper part was good, bottom not so, so that fitted my bill just fine.. To cut as little as possible, I started to cut the slam panel in the corner and then cut the upper half of the light bucket and then adjusted it till it fitted ok  Not perfect fit as I got a Mk2 bowl as those have a tad smaller bowl to it, but at least it better than it was, not fully welded yet here   Had a blond moment when I started to roll the wheelarch on the other side as I found out my mate had not welded that yet. The clue was the wheelarch give away too much and the sill end and the wheelarh did go a seperate way, doh!!!  My mate in Oslo also gave me a section of the inner wing that included the inner wing stiffner, mine was missing those as mine was a German sold car, but due our road standard back in the day all norwegian cars was fitted with those, and I like a stiff chassis. Thanks to plenty of underseal the stiffner plate was in perfect nick  The whole plate took about 30min in total with cleaning with a angle grinder wire brush (get the ones that stands straight out as a disc then curls the threads in the end, they work fantastic!) and then a spot weld drill bit.  Rust primer and hang them inside my car to let them dry till next time  The one for the other side was even better, so that just got some paint..  Took off some more sound deadener  July 2016 Progress is slow, I mean very slow, but never the less some small things got done.. But first of all I will say that I'm not happy with the quality of the work being done, both my mate and his brother do not wear any welding mask at all and they have a habbit to not weld everything solid, then slap on filler or sealer and call the job done. That is not quality in my book, neither do they use body panel clamps when butt welding, in fact they never do butt welding, nor do they joddler one panel to make it fit good to another panel. And the Veng wings fit poorly, they don't bother to modify them to fit greit either.. More of this later.. The headligh bucket is now welded in, see the poorly grinding amd the sink primer on top? And bet it is not welded all the way either..  The slam panel bit I cut out is also welded in, sloppy job here too  And some body sealer on the front of the headlight bucket, I bet it's not fully welded here either  The green on the wing rail is fiberglass filler to hide the fact the ends under the wing rail don't end up at the same point  My mates brother who is the "bodyman" also welded in the wing rail reforcement plate I made ready not long ago. Here I agreed to grind it myself  Shot without the wing. They never bothered to align the wing and wing rail with the door on, that's wrong in my opinion  With the wing on, which btw I going to bolt on as I heavly suspect I will get some rust in a couple of years up the road as this job is not done to the quality I want it to be done. Fitment of this left side is not bad here, some wings are realy bad at this point  The gap seems to be ok? No it is not, wrong profile at the top and the gap is to wide, wing is pushed all the way back too  You can allmost fit a finger between the door and wing  Not looking too bad from the distance tho  No picture of this, but the wing is over 2cm longer than being able to meet the front valance from headlight bucket and down. And the edge that meets the headbucket itself on the vertical end is butting up on top but allmost a cm away at the bottom... Hung on the wings and the drivers door, put all the Capri stuff into the Capri and moved it to the new garage at the other side of the wall for the next 14 days.  The right side wing seems to fit much nice, albeit no wing rail is present as I can't seem to fint the wing rail atm, I'm sure there was ordered tow of them.... But the wing on this has a big fault, the edge that fits on the A pillar in front of the door is over 1" short when placing the wing at the correct place at the shuttle panel, correct location over the headlight with the bonnet fully down and holding the wing against the sill. The sill end as I suspected is too wide so the wing won't come fully in contact with the sill at the bottom..  After that is sat a month or so in that spot till I was moved to a small garage in the backyard and there it have been since. So now we are up to date. Between August and now I have got hold of a set of 4pot calipers from a 2wd Cosworth Sierra to go along my Rally Design 285mm disc's, got a newstock 5speed crossmember and a pair of bullet mirror from a US spec Capri. My list of new parts I've allready got are: Rear axle x-frame location kit. Adjustable TCA's Wheelbearing kit for front Overhaul kit for the rear axle, just missing the diff cover gasket. New door and sunroof seals New doorpins New 2" Sportex exhaust with 3" tips Custom made adapter kit for 4pot Cossie calipers 285mm Rally Design disc's Greenstuff pads for orginal M16 calipers Stainless steel tank straps and bolts Assorted bolts New door striker plates Seconhand parts: MT75 gearbox, unsure if I will use this 24/14mm anti roll bars (2.8i) Powder coated valve covers for my 2.3 engine in black wrinkle finish Radiator Hope to get progress soon, but by previous post's seems like I more activ in beginning og March each year lol. But first I need to do some TLC on my daily Mk3 Mondeo, mainly new rear brakes, fit a secondhand rear suspension crossmember, arb linkage in front and tracking... Comments are welcome |
