Finally the post I hoped id never have to write.... I am putting My Kadett up for sale, complete less engine and box for now. Complete build thread is here: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/36727/1979-opel-kadett-supercharged-updated?page=39It will make someone an epic car, it is 95% dry built with all steelwork done ready for blasting, painting and final assembly. Loads of spares, and everything I have accumulated for it over the last 10 years, I just want it all gone. It just doesn't fit with my life / family as it is now, and I would rather see someone finish it and get pleasure from it than sat in my garage gathering dust waiting for enthusiasm that has long since departed. Serious inquiries only please, and I`m not interested in swapping anything for it, its a cash sale only. Thanks for looking Cheers Dom

Good luck with the sale mate, such a shame but certainly the sensible choice. Just wish I had the cash/space/time/energy to take it on!

Thanks fella, maybe if we.d have still been sharing space, your enthusiasm would have rubbed off and kept me motivated to finish it, that all seems a long time ago now and you've built 3 or 4 cars in that time too 😉👍

Might be an idea to put some photos of it in this post to show how it looks and progress on the build. Build thread is 40 pages long, started reading it from both ends but just gave up.

Good point, I figured anyone that was seriously interested would have a look through. Its quite difficult to catalogue everything that has been done and aquired for the build, another thing I don't really have time for at the moment sadly. I`m kind of just sick of seeing it everytime I go in the garage. and just want it gone. But I`ll see if i can put a series of pics together for it. I wonder if i could go back through the post and Trim out all the non essential discussions ?

God, those Kadett Coupe's were fit! Just compare them to the modern day Astra to see how bad car design has become!

Had the beatings of an Escort back in the day too No way Jose. Escort needed to go to group 4 spec to get anywhere near the suspension sophistication that the chevette and Kadett had as standard. Don't forget that the Escort "Legend" is mainly because they have had 40 years of continual development, back in the day there were many cars that had the beating of them, and people that drove both in british / world championships preferred the chevette. You also have the (Pretty significant) issue of the RAC MSA denying entry for historic rallying of "Clubman" chevettes (2.3 and 2.6 single cam engines) despite the fact that they ran in period in british championship events and were a large percentage of the field. excluding all but the HS and HSR cars from historics (Of which very few were actually made) has meant the escort "dominance" has become legendary and the industry has grown around it to keep it that way.
