Hey folks,
I'm going to put some time aside to do some updates for RR stuff, I have two big things I want to do but I don't know which to do first. The options are:
More work on Image uploading and gallery : I have an idea to power up the image upload stuff so that it lets you upload a gallery of images, add comments to them and then publish them into a thread. There is a world in which it could also allow you to browse the images you have uploaded before and add them into the current edit box you are using.
Categorised Parts For Sale : One of the big problems with parts for sale is the volume and disparity of the parts, I'm thinking I may make a proper For Sale system for parts that lets you browse by type or make. It would have to be a separate site/system/login as I can't use the Proboards login sadly but it would be related to here so I would hope that it would get good traffic.
Happy to hear what else is frustrating at the moment site wise. There is a new version of Proboards in the works (which is why I didn't do as much dev work over the last year as I thought I would as I was waiting for it to be complete), but I don't think it will answer these two things, it does though have a new calendar system which I'm looking forward to seeing.

Personally I don't mind all the parts being mixed up, as I sometimes come across parts I need/want that I wouldn't normally be looking for. I think making the image sharing a thing, sounds like a much more usable idea

Concentrate on the image hosting. It's what most non forum literate web users struggle with, and tbh the features you suggest are possible is something I think I would use for making a pic-heavy thread.
The for sale thing sounds awful, and a pretty good way to kill off something that works fine. I don't think there's the traffic to warrant it. Only things I'd suggest us the PFS section may need a firmer structure- similar to the actual cars for sale section, to stop people posting loads of stuff that's for vehicles that would be too new to sell on here. Other thing is flood control to force people to put everything in one thread rather than hogging the whole board with multiple items(RnS did this and it worked well, you were limited to one new post per week or similar) but other than that it's fine.

Images! I like what has been done so far with making it easy to add pics, however adding comments and keep track of uploaded pics is a pain. A pain to the point that I have barely bothered with doing pic threads in recent years.

image hosting is quite a big burden on the host though. simplicity or not ! to be frank i don't see why the onus should be on free forum to provide it

Again images here for me. The classified I think the whole part of the fun is sifting through the threads, much like an online autojumble. However being able to upload images from the mobile version of the site would be fantastic.

The thread can be generated easily (I think) so fingers crossed it won't be too crazy hard. Looks like it is the winner at the moment.

Definitely images! Is there still a requirement to host images somewhere else before uploading? Or is the plan to host images on RR? Or does this already happen now and I'm behind the times and needlessly wrestling Imgur every time?! EDIT: I see you've just answered that question in reply to BT

EDIT: I see you've just answered that question in reply to BT See the "Add Picture" button the quick reply box... no need to wrestle with anything, click it.. select your image/images from your hard drive and it'll upload them (and they should be in the order you selected them, all things being well)

theres a tiny tiny issue, maybe so petty that i nearly didnt mention, but the default size of quick reply box is obscuring the quick reply button itself by about 50%
you can resize the box, but it defaults back after you browse or, or indeed refresh the page

Image upload.
I like the parts for sale as it is, seen a few forums die quite quickly when the parts for sale is changed and over complicated.

Add Picture button is great for new users. However, [tab][enter] used to post what you had just entered in the reply box - now it opens an image upload dialogue. Can you set the post button back to the first tab option? </Luddite> *n

Testing that picture upload button. Well it obviously works, never noticed it before or has it only just been put on?
