The project started from this:
Totally stock R9 with the mighty 1.4 liter C2J pushrod engine with twin throat weber 300 000 kilometers on the clock.
I wasn't planning any mods for the car at first. I was just daily driving it with for a year or two. But then the modding inspiration struck.
Then the dull looking front had me go for a hunt for the 4-headlamp grille for more sporty looks.
Stock rear lights
At this time i started planning for more power for the renault, first the plan was to make a carburetor-turbo setup with the cleon-fonte, just like the original turbo 9's.
But then I saw this badly rusted 16v 19 for sale, and decided to go for F7P swap. With brakes and 4-bar torsion rear axle from the 19.
I did full overhaul for the engine, new rod & crankshaft bearings, new piston rings, seals and gaskets etc. Shaved the block and cylinder head a bit. Compression is about 11.4, so naturally aspirated is the way for now.
Needs adjustable cam gears, to get full profit out of lowered compression. E85 will be the fuel and the ecu is still a question mark, maybe first with the stock one, because working piece of curse word is much more motivating. Wilder cams also in the search.
The body is mostly parted out now from the unwanted parts, and its finally time for reassembling
Bye bye C2J (maybe gets a new life with turbo in 300-series volvo someday)
Gasser?
Yesterday installed a new windshield, old was cracked.
9 is going to be lowered a bit (not slammed, I will go to track days with this).
BTW if someone got 4x100 typ 5 ats rims for sale, sent me a message.
