Hi i am nick from the netherlands. This is my 1986 carry sk408. The litle van has got a lot in common with the older st90 carry. It has the same f8a 0.8 engine and things like drumbrakes all around. I keep on ending up on this forum in my everlasting search for cool (microvan) projects to read. So after reading another cool topic (bike engined rascal) i thought why not join? Let me start by apologising for my spelling. English isnt my first language and if i have to check everything it would take forever to post something. After searching for a while i found a nice carry. It was ready for export to egypt and the MOT had expired a couple of months ago. After speaking to the seller i drove to the south of the netherlands to pick it up. I took it to a mechanic for a check up and a new MOT. To my supprise it had nothing wrong with it and was realy in good technical condition according to my mechanic. Just some rusty patches inside and outside the wheelarches. So it got a new MOT

First thing i did was give it a good cleaning. The old seats were realy dirty and worn out so i replaced them with some nice new seats. Next thing to do was find some cool wheels for it. I have seen the thread on here from the green rascal and realy liked the wheels. And what do you know a set of enkei bajas came up for sale in belgium. So i sold a kidney and went to pick them up directly. some nice new rubber to it was a perfect fit.. realy happy with them! As you can see the litle van needed some lows verry badly. So i bought some loweringblocks for the back and just cut the springs in the front. that already made it look a lot better

Then i started undersealing it Changed the front i started working on the interior there were a lott of scratches and the previous owner had ducktaped the doorcards to the sides a couple of years ago it was all dirty and was almost imposible to get clean again so i had some cans highgloss ivory laying around and thought mmm why not if you remove the seats theres almost nothing left  it only weighs 730kg offcourse you can see some stripes and other stuff but it looks way nicer than it was i did it with a brush and roller what a difference some paint and a litle carpet here and there make :affraid: i got a bitt carryd away with the enginecover

This month we will start with the welding on the carry (wheelarches, struttowers etc) and i hope to get it painted in feb-march I'm not in a hurry because i cant drive it at the moment its registered as an oldtimer .. that means you pay almost nothing regarding taxes and insurance but you have to store your car 3 months in the winter and cant drive it then.. dec/jan/feb. picked up this bullbar last week.

Hello Nick, I would never have guessed that English wasn't your native tongue. Your spelling/grammar is certainly better than 90% of my Facebook friends' so no need to apologise for that. I absolutely love your van. I have owned 3-4 of these in my time. Some better than others but loved them all. They are fetching a lot of money now as you no doubt know. You must be delighted with the way yours is turning out. I know I would be. Seeing this has made me want another one!

thanks man yes indeed there arent a lot of them left over here, and they are getting expensive. I realy love mine to.. previous i had a hijet that i loved to but i kept on having problems so it had to go. i realy loved that to but hijets are verry weak regarding overheating problems.

I love these little carry vans. Been tempted by them for a long time, but money and space don't allow I recently spotted a great hijet in Carlisle masquerading as a VW. It had a double bed, cooker and fridge setup inside. Super cozy, but fantastic for summer road trips I'm sure!

I used to work for a Suzuki dealer when this model was current and it was marketed as the Suzuki SUPERCARRY in the UK (also known as the knee crusher).

haha yes i hope the bullbar will save my legs a litle if i ever get in to a crash. It isnt a supercarry, the supercarry was the 1.0 (f10a) with discbrakes on the front and 5 speed gearbox. Mine was sort of an inbetween model that used a lot of the old st90 carry like the 08 engine/4 speed/ drumbrakes.

time for an update it had some dents and rusty patches that needed welding. i tryed getting whole wheelarches but they arent easy to come by for the 30 year old van and the suzukidealer asked 580euro per side. so it will be cutting out the rust and welding new patches. some recontruction my friend who does the welding also can do dent repair work. interesting to see him work the dent to the point its almost not visable anymore i also did a mufflerectomy, we replaced the rearmuffler with a pipe. the sound was a litle more than i expected klick on youtubelink for video before after after doing all the unpleasant jobs it was time for a fun job, put a rising sun on the back window the carry past the MOT last month, like last year without repairs or anything. because its now 31 years old it will have to go for an MOT every 2 years. so i have to go again in 2019. i bought a sprayset and am going to dip the van myself its going to be matte white, like this color i know the pros and cons and have been researching it a lott the last year. i know it cant compare with a regular paintjob but #**# it , it cost me 200euro for the dip and 150euro for the sprayer its worth a shot i think i sold the enkei bajas because i needed the money but bought some other wheels to i think they are called daimond racing smoothies 14 inch 6,5J they came of a datsun 240Z they need some tlc and some nice new tyres like this still thinking about what to polish or to paint i bought these to because they were realy cheap and i couldnt help myself look at pierre his face when i told him what i paid for them
