Was told to make a thread about my 304 so here it is! My name is William and my dad bought the car for me at the age of 12 as I had spent my whole life going on about how much we should get a classic Peugeot and this one came up at the perfect time- we had just moved house and had an empty garage waiting to be filled up! I saw it on eBay and we went up to view it, ended up buying it for £650ish (just before they seemed to shoot up in price!) It was then stripped with the intention of being restored to a high standard. Unfortunately it needed a lot of new parts, so we bought a red LHD 304 from a local scrapyard and used it as a parts car. Everything was stripped off of it and was eventually taken back to the scrapyard as a shell. We realised that we would need more parts than the red one could provide, so I went on the Club Peugeot UK website and found that a green 304 was going free to a good home. It had been sitting in a leaking garage for 21 years, the engine was seized, the interior was a mess and it had previously had an electrical fire! I did want to restore it as it was a 1 owner car and was a quite rare colour but unfortunately it was used for parts as it was so rotten. Progress dwindled on the main car, and after a few years of it just sitting there we decided that it would be better if it was just on the road and not bother about restoring it to a high standard! A few weeks passed and the car was at the local garage passing it's MOT with no advisories! This will be the third year it is on the road after it's 14 year rest! The highlight of ownership would be when it was featured in a book 'My Cool Convertible' due to it's patina and unusual backstory! Now I'm 16 I'm hoping to learn to drive in it, unfortunately it wont be used as my first car as apparently it is too unsafe. Hopefully in the future we'll complete the good quality restoration- maybe an engine that runs properly and a paintjob made up of one shade of blue rather than 8! Cant seem to upload photos with this so I'll leave them in the comments

Nice car, I follow you on Instagram so I am familiar with it, I've always wondered what it would look like if it wasn't so original though

Lovely looking thing. I'm really liking the look of 304 convertibles at the moment. Personally, I'd keep it looking relatively standard - low and with banded steels doesn't look right on something as pretty as this. I'm sure I've read about your car elsewhere - was there an article in a classic car mag a couple of years back?

I don't think its been in a classic car magazine, like I sad it was featured last year in this book about convertibles where it gave the same story I did. I have posted it on Instagram/ Flickr lots of times but that is it I think!

Not sure if I said but the car has been running really badly under load recently, took it to a garage and found out that its the timing that is the issue. Should be back up and running by next week hopefully! Did manage to do a quick photoshoot with it in the fog the other day though!

Lovely. I could see myself in one of those. The first time I came across one of these was at a classic car auction in the late 80's. It only went for about £800/£900 and there was a rotten saloon for sale as well for parts. Wish I had bought it now. Missed opportunity or what.

The 304 coupe is also a very nice car. Check the 204 and the 404 convertible, that in itself is very stylish.

Still waiting for the mechanics to finish with it! The carburetor needed work on it too apparently so it's taking longer than I hoped! Will be done by March though so I can learn to drive in it!

finally got the Peugeot back and it's driving better than ever! The timing was the issue which was making the car sound really rough. Looking forward to going out in it during the summer!
