Sorry if this is dense. But, better to ask and merely look stupid than cock it up and completely confirm it.... Have just got this. Need to sort out this both sides. Do I need a complete three quarter replacement or will a replacement rear wing do it. Hope like xyz the wing will do it, as it's about a third of the price in panels... Any recommendations on where to get panels also greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You could if you were crafty get a good 1/4 and then weld it at the seam where the swage line is but would be hard to get it even there with zero distortion from my brief time working with bodywork. Would you be fitting this yourself or giving it elsewhere? GavinJ is the man to ask as is Nathan. Whatever you do, try to go with Heritage Panels. Yes they may be expensive but the steel is generally nice and thick, a reasonable quality and in most cases easier to fit. I understand Steelcraft aren't meant to be too bad and TBH I've still got one their repair panels hanging around outside after a decade with no rust!

It doesn't look too bad to me. I'd get the paint off and see if it there are any big holes and then decide whether to let in small repair sections or take on the fairly major task of a new wing. The usual rust problems in the rear wings are down at the sill and in the arch, for which there are repair sections available. There's lots of advice available on how to do it but basically it's being neat with the cutting and fit and then slowly welding in very short sections to avoid putting heat into the panels.

Is it actually rotten or just breaking out along the top? Apologies if this is obvious but I'm viewing on mobile, if it's not gone through I would sand/ grit/ glass blast the top edge to remove rust and paint then fill it with lead, I would say treat it with some phosphoric acid to get at anything lurking in the seam to but I'm not sure how it would react to the heat involved in lead filling it. That's a classic mg rust area though. Before you go any further I would have a really good poke around underneath to find out how crispy the rest of it is.
