Hello guys right I got a question, I want to give me golf a xenon look, but don't want to be adding xenon kits because it may be a itch I only want to scratch for a little while, I have added a new wiring loom from the battery so I get the full power, for my lights as many may know these old vw have bad lights, now I have seen 2 lights that give that xenon look
1. Osram cool blue intense
2. Philips xenon blue vision ultra
Has anyone had any experience with these and which is better thanks

No idea but 'blue' halogen bulbs or even filament bulbs with xenon in tend to give a worse light output than a decent 'natural' bulb I have found from experience. For the cost of a CANBUS safe HID kit I'd say if you want the look and a useable light output, just buy HIDs. I had 5000k 35w 'h7's in my Hyundai (admittedly had projector lamps) and they were ace. Looked massively OE. Any Brighter (wattage) or bluer (higher kelvin number) and it starts to look a bit pap but that's my opinion.

Almost all kits are just plug and play into the OE loom, requiring you only to mount the ballast unit somewhere tidily. Or untidily. Choice is yours. Seen some dreadful installs, I made up brackets to hold them on the return lip on the slam panel, over the back of the headlamp but anything is possible. Tidier and more secure it is, the longer it's likely to last.

I see fair enough, are the bulbs used same as the normal h4 or h7 or is it the more expensive bulbs like d2r's, ? Sorry never used hid/xenon kits

Stick with 4300k if you're going HID. Blue lights are terrible (6000k) You won't be able to see much and when it rains you'll see less. This is why all weather bulbs are yellow. Canbus is for modern cars who's electrics complain when you have a bulb out. D2S is for Projectors and D2R is for reflectors, but they have a different base socket. You can get adapters though. Basically though, if your headlights aren't designed for them, you're going to dazzle everyone.

which if you have a golf and are posting here it wont have projector lamps so no it'll not be very good with a hid lamp.
better off with something like a nightbreaker, avoid the 'xenon look'

If you're looking for a xenon look, Philips do a 'white vision' which do look just like OEM 4300k/5000k. I would highly recommend them, also had Osram nightbreakers which are good just slightly more yellow but as people said give more light.

I just use the Halfords branded ones, I think they are 'extreme brilliance' or some stupid name, no blue coating or any of that tosh and the light output is pretty nice. They last ok as well as they are fitted in a discovery with HD springs and competition dampers. They do some tinted but not fully blue ones too. It's not a bad place to go browse and see to be fair, if nothing else it'll give you and idea of what you are after. They often stock a good range of own brand, Phillips, Bosch and sometimes it here's too. Bear in mind also if the side lamp is in the same lens it's worth changing that too to an LED set or similar as that will dramatically alter the way the lights look when on.
