ive no idea what rights the police have to access bank information but if you have account numbers etc then get them to track him that way.
do you think he just gave you an incorrect number by mistake?
he has your number no?
when should he contact you? when are you suppose to see the car or collect it?
I'm saying that he mightve given you the wrong number genuinely by accident(ive done it)and then he has no reason to contact you i suppose until youre meant to see it or collect it?

DO NOT DO BANK TRANSFERS !
PAYPAL ONLY !!!
Its seems if this is a scam that they are getting more common , seen as virtually all transactions rely a element of blind faith !!
And to be fair , i looked up the mot history and it sounds like it has had a lot of welding so maybe it was not much good anyway .

Said this on another thread last week. Few fraudulent for sale adverts on here lately.
Can't we have a rule that at least one pic must contain a piece of paper with

Said this on another thread last week. Few fraudulent for sale adverts on here lately. Can't we have a rule that at least one pic must contain a piece of paper with retro rides Username Date to be honest you can just take a few pics of your neighbours car and then one with this piece of paper on it for evidence. only way really is to go and see it. ive bought cars blind on ebay before and had them delivered even by trusting sellers who didnt want paying. i was just saying to someone very recently how online private purchases have made people more honest, in that youre not surprised when people don't rip you off when they are often in a position to. my partner paid a deposit on a car to be delivered to us. i then found out it had had some recent welding on it and cancelled the deal and wanted the deposit back. the guy helped himself to £50 of it for us messing him around, even though he'd negelcted to mention that it had been welded 2 weeks before to pass the last MOT...trustworthy...but only up to a point. buying used cars has always been a bit of a dodgy practice no? I've sent £12k to America via bank transfer for an imported vehicle, never saw it until it arrived...
Look guys, I've made a mistake. It is not a lot of money. Just be careful out there and well (hard as it seems) don't trust anyone.

True. But this guys not selling his neighbours car.
A photo of a retro car with a piece of paper stating username etc is more likely to be genuine that a photo that anyone can take off of google.
Chances of the neighbours mk2 fiesta sitting on the drive and the scammer next door taking photos with a piece of paper in front of the camera ?
Doubtful

Yes , sorry , i did not mean to sound like i was having a go . I just do not like to see people ripped off . I suppose its some lowlife getting there cider/skag/crack/betting money , dirty scamming so and so's .
I suppose all we can go on is to use your nose , but like you said , you spoke to him for a good while as well , probably on a nicked mobile .
Perhaps people could ask for a photo of something odd with the car via PM or something , like a tin of beans on the bonnet or something . Sounds dumb but i don't think anyone will begrudge someone if they are genuine .

This car was for sale on the ford fiesta Mk1 and mk2 owners club group back in March by a chap from Leeds. The photos on that advert are different to these ones. He's probably nothing to do with this but it might be worth contacting him to see who he sold it to?

Fraud (appears to be) something that is happening now on this forum. It would be nice if the admins created a high vis sticky, with what to look out for. I was trying to multi-task at the time with work and this purchase. Small money, little consideration. My bad, his gain.
Still, others I hope are not sucked in to this like I so easily was.

Small potatoes.
This chap, I wish him all the best. Probably not a great career to be in really. Someone, not me, will catch him out and I'm sure regret will factor in at that moment. At least members are aware.

As a note to the member who has transferred the money please do have a bit of faith (I know it's hard in these situations) but when I was recently stung I got in touch with the police who told me that due to the incredible amount of Internet fraud complaints that were being made they had set up a deviation/department to souly deal with issues like this.
I was fortunate enough to get my funds back. Hopefully the same can happen for you.
