Whoa! That's one serious motor. Not too sure about the 220mph+ claim though! Modern supercars have much more aerodynamic bodies with similar if not greater power figures and still don't reach that kind of speed. Still doesn't detract from the fact that it is seriously cool though!

Nice looking SD1. ;D +220mph, my !!!

Nice but that 220mph+ claim is pure fantasy. Somehow I can't really imagine this SD1 spanking a Mclaren F1... just the combination of 400 ponies in an SD1 body would see to that To do that kind of speed, assuming he runs say 245/40x16's and has a tall 0.75:1 OD 5th, he would need to be pulling at least a 2.5:1 diff with the engine turning at 6500rpm. Seems kind of unlikely. Also doesn't 388ft/lbs seem kind of weedy for a built 5.8L V8 when the HP output is over 400?

Again, nice motor, but that top speed claim is waaaaay off. 160mph should be possible though, and that's nothing to be sniffed at. So why does he have to tell fibs?

I don't think its as blatant a lie as everyone thinks. Its just misleading
IF it could pull redline in top gear it would do 225 mph. Because it cant itll be more in the 160mph territory.
Agreed its not a very accurate claim, which means Id be investigating the rest as well. But its still a nice car

Nice understated looks as well - doesn`t look like the usual Fast Car feature car though

That SD1 is lovely but 220+ would be very scary. Plus if it could do it where would you go to get up to top speed?

Absolutely lovely, but 220mph? No! Not at all! Never! ;D ;D ;D Fact is, not only is a McLaren more aerodynamic, and more stable at speed no doubt, it's lighter too, the McLaren used huge quantities of carbon fibre, light alloys, and solid gold oddly enough, something to do with it's heat/absorption properties that allows it to line the engine bay. Now an SD1, on the other hand, is heavier, less aerodynamic, has less downforce and stability at speed, and is heavier. 170mph maybe, even 180, not 220!

Tom Radford's SD1 was reputedly clocked at 200mph+ (much to the surprise of a Callaway ZR1 (very hot Corvette!)), and was certainly built with a lot more than show-winning and drag-racing in mind. TOM RADFORD'S ROVER - The best modified car ever?

I was a just a boy, hanging at my local 'custom' meet (Dutch House...Saarf Larndan), when the pink thing turned up...it was it's first outing - never been in any magazines - completely fresh, it completely blew my mind. Tom Radford's SD1 Rocks. I think he moved to Europe and took the car with hime, I think it was re-sprayed in metallic blue too.
