I previously started a thread about considering a retro camper and have now rethought the idea. I liked my little Honda Acty Romahome and could be tempted by another but on better base than the Acty. Even if couldn't find a Romahome demountable body there is always the option of a DIY body that would provide more space than a micro van conversion. As a bonus carrying my mobility scooter, motorbikes, quad, parts hauler etc duties would mean it'd get more use than a dedicated CF, Sherpa, Commer and such campers.
I said not interested in Japanese due to horror of trying to get parts for the Acty (Honda have a policy of physically destroying any spares 12 years after vehicle ceases production rather than selling them off cheap or to a dedicated specialist) and that means options are Bedford Rascal / Suzuki Super Carry - both made on same production line in Luton and the Daihatsu Hi-Jet / Piaggio Porter - again both made on same production line in Italy. Bet not many people realised that the Hi-Jet we got here in UK was European made as it was a way around import rules that restricted Japanese vehicles.
Anyway which do people think is the better vehicle - Rascal or Hi-Jet ? My preference is Rascal but not dismissing Hi-Jet.
My tastes are such that I'd be looking at 100% original and not lowered, banded, engine transplant etc
