This is a very rare opportunity to get hold of a low mileage ONE owner BMW 535i Sport.
This Diamond Black 5-speed manual Sport was pre-registered by Country Garage BMW of Ballymena, NI, in March 1990, and bought later in the year by a Mr. Anderson of Cookstown, NI. He used the 535i as his company car for a few years, and thereafter kept it as a nice weekend cruiser. It has suffered no abuse in the decade and a half since, until coming to us for remedial work recently.
The car had dealer servicing for the first portion of it's life, but recently suffered at the hands of a well-known local garage, and we have had to some extensive remedial work, including a complete coolant flush as the pipes were full of sediment having never been done before, and we had to cut out a lot of extremely poor welding repairs and do them properly. This was all in the sills and jacking point areas, and now we are pleased to say it has seam welded repair panels made by our resident fabricator and set in by our resident time-served welder with over 20 years experience. The underside has since been fully treated with fresh underseal, and covered in Tetraschutz to keep the rust from coming back.
We believe in using these cars every day, so we endeavour to bring them up to a high mechanical and structural standard, but leave the history of the car intact. Thus, we have not touched the paint, other than to hand polish it, but there is evidence of it having had some previous paintwork. There are a few blemishes around the door bottoms - not rust eaten, but tiny areas where the lacquer has lifted. Overall, however, it is in very presentable condition, and essentially completely standard and virtually untouched. We have left the dealer issue plates in situ.
The Sport bodykit is in fine condition, having no cracks on front or rear bumper, and the side skirts and spoiler are not bent as sometimes seen. All towing eye covers are present.
The wheels were originally TRX Metric type, but Mr. Anderson replaced those with some aftermarket wheels when tyre supply dried up. We have reverted it to a more standard set of 15" BBS wheels, which are in good condition, with very good standard sized tyres, and all caps present.
The car is a very appealing specification, especially in the Diamond Black finish, which sparkles grey in strong light. It has the On Board Computer, headlight Intensive Wash, original M-tech gearknob, original M-tech 2 steering wheel, and black interior with manually adjusted anthracite grey cloth Sport seats.
The 12v 215bhp 3.5 straight six engine runs very quietly and benefits from having just had a service carried out. The gearbox is tight and the clutch in good shape. As it is a manual Sport, this car has an LSD fitted, which has never really had to do much work so is lovely and tight. The suspension is good - perhaps slightly wallowy now as the springs begin to show their age, but comfortable nonetheless, and it holds the road well.
All electrics are fully functional, even the dash pixels. There is a period 1990s radio fitted too.
