For sale is a Jaguar XJ40 4.0 Sovereign
Sterling Silver with Full Grey Leather
1994 'L' Registration
MOT until May 2015
Just had a Full Service - Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filter, Spark Plugs x 6 (Service Booklet Stamped)
New Front Tyres (correct 225 / 55 / 16 fitment)
New Wiper Blade
Been using this as my daily for the last few weeks, and it drives very well with NO overheating (sat for over an hour in heavy M25 traffic, and didn't miss a beat). Super smooth ride, which only an XJ can muster.
100% reliable. Always starts first time and has good pull from the 'AJ6' engine, which just purrs along. Previous owner replaced the battery, front wheel bearing and the exhaust rear section.
Perfect oil pressure, engine temperature and voltage. Even the fuel guage doesn't go down as quick as you might imagine - on a recent fast run between Berkshire and Northants, it returned a respectable 27 mpg - in my view, that's not bad for a big cat!
Everything works as it should, with no warning lights on the dash. The electric aerial still goes up and down with the stereo is used.
Bodywork is generally in clean condition, and way better than most XJ40s of this era: both front wings have some light bubbles and corrosion towards the bottom, there is a slight scrape on the NSR lower corner and general marks, blemishes and stone chips for a 22 year old car. Rear arches are solid, with only a few minor scabs. Chrome work is in good order. This is NOT a rot box like a lot out there. Wheels have a few marks on them.
Still looks classy, majestic, and turns plenty of heads whilst always getting pleasant comments. This is a 'proper' Jaguar.
Interior is in good condition, and the leather has major no rips or tears. There is wear on the driver's seat bolster. This car was used on a wedding fleet a few years back, and the rear seats are very clean. Everything is still tight and solid, and the walnut trim is in decent order with no cracks. Headlining has sagged as usual, but held up with drawing pins.
Has an A4 lever arch file with lots of old MOT certificates, old bills, and even photos of the car. It had some welding done in 2009, and there are no corrosion advisories on the current MOT (quite rare for an old Jag). Comes with 1 Key and New Number Plates supplied (not yet fitted).
Solid XJ40s are getting thin on the ground now and good ones are going for strong money.
£1300 ovno.
