Right chaps this is an odd one! My Mk2 MX5 has gone through two auxiliary belts since I bought the car six months ago which is obviously not healthy! More specifically this is the belt that drives the water pump and alternator.
I have checked that both pulleys move freely and they are not seized! I have also cleaned the pulleys down when changing the belt and ensured that the belt was the right tension but it has still snapped twice. And when I say snapped I mean snapped! I have used quality belts so they are not the problem (always use OE parts or better).
I know it is always hard to diagnose without the car in front of you but if anyone has any suggestions of troubleshooting tasks that I have overlooked it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Ashley
