Also, not entirely sure how he's got it MOT exempt.
If he's played the Recovery Vehicle card it can ONLY be used for transporting disabled vehicles (not easily mended by the roadside), and NOT for regular vehicle transportation. You also cannot drive it outside of it performing recovery duties, so taking it to a show, popping out for a pint of milk, all are a no-no.

Pretty sure MOT exemption was ended for under 3.5t and my understanding was you had to have a spec not a bed as you could use the bed for other things. Possibly be able to blag it as a special vehicle and go for showmans exemption if you follow the profession of a travelling showman, but I can't think how else.
