Has anyone owned one of these beasties? It's a 2005 model and will be my daily and as the title suggests has done 140,000 fsh. Good idea or bad a one? Thoughts are generally people seem to say they are a bulletproof comfy cruiser, exactly what i'm after tbh. What do we think? I'm going to be using the cressida when it's nice weather and the Lexus at all other times, my daily commute is only an 8 mile round trip

There are plenty out there with a lot more miles on them. If it's been looked after, 140k shouldn't trouble it.

140k is just broken in.
They'd sorted the brake booster issue by 2005 as well.

Only issue is the cost of road tax £££ - other than that, you'll wonder why everyone isn't driving one!

Was going to get one of these a while back but begrudge paying £500 road tax,
I've had a mk1 gs sport with 210,000 miles didn't put a drop off oil or water in it in 8 months of ownership couldn't hear it ticking over
current daily drive is a 98 ls400 with 120,000 on had it for over 12momths covered around 5000 miles I think they only need fuel as I haven't added oil or water in this, only issue I had for mot was a new Headlight bulb & no advisorys.
Would be interested to see how you get on with it

Borrowed a station wagon version from a friend a year back when I needed a semi sensible car for a few work meetings. Was really impresses, went well, loads of room and comfy. A nice place to be. I think it had around 300K on the clock, but you wouldnt know it from just looking at it. Nice car, enjoy. P.

I was looking at 06 models some were lower tax band but the ones I liked were higher.

You don't know how handy you have it over in the UK. In Ireland the tax on a 2005 Lexus GS300 3.0 is €1,809 per year, equal to £1630. Ahh the joys of the Rip off republic.

That looks really nice. £295 VED rate is the same as my S-type I think. I pay it monthly and try not to think about it. That said, my wife's CRV is about £240 so in comparison, it's almost a bargain.

I have a hankering for an ex police VXR Vectra. The £500 a year road tax put me off!

Ah apologies, my lack of knowledge has shown itself once again. Still, if the build quality is as good on the GS then 300k should be no problem. P.
