This may only work with super organised Japanese cars, but for a while when I didn't have much storage, but I did have a lot of socket sets and doubled up tools, I made a small tool kit up with the sockets and various other correct tools for my Datsun. I could do pretty much 90% of the jobs I needed to do on the car with that. I now use that small box as my "electrical" tool kit, and spend 5 minutes swearing at the state of my garage every time I need to find the right socket for something I'm doing. (I favour organisation, I didn't say I am organised). This works, I have one toolbox with spanners screwdrivers and all the sockets a few hammers and grips, extra extension bars special sockets, then a small Draper socket set on a separate box, and the one box separately solely for electrical tools crimps heatshrink tape etc. I used to have a box of random spare fasteners collected over the years of engine swaps scrapyards visits and cars broken for spares, but the amount has grown far too much for that I couldn't lift even half the collection on my own now, so its all in Takeaway style tubs and Tall nutrition powder tubs!

Having recently just started my tool/garage collection, I can add a few smaller, but (for me anyway) essential items. A few sets of pliers, especially some decent needle nosed and ones that can cut through wire. A small inspection lamp for getting light into those awkward dark spaces. A solid wire brush for getting the curse word off your inevitably crusty car parts. An inspection mirror. I've actually got a small makeup mirror which has now been used multiple times so far for hunting down hidden housing bolts/reaching awkward screws you can't see etc. They're ones that might just be specific to me, but have proved mighty useful nonetheless! And men say their women's make up bags are full of tat! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I also recommend pinching your ladies nail polish for making small marks on parts such as lining up cambelts etc..aslong as you have a car fanatic lady she won't mind.. Fred I'll get you some nail polish for xmas

halfords 150 pro kit here, been through 4 or 5 boxes but they've done me proud for the last 15 odd years, decent (and i meen DECENT) mole/vice grips, magnet on a stick or an old leccy aerial stem with a hard drive magnet glued on the end, way more H/D than the ones you can buy, dentist mirror, ask, they change them regular and they are great kit forget battery drill just buy a cheap 12V one with a nackerd battery, add 2 leads with croc clips and run it off a spare car battery, mine runs off my jump battery (a big diesel battery with 2 jump leads bolted to it) oh and forget a jump pack use a big car battery as above ![](http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv126/cortina-lit/Classic%20jobs/Picture031.jpg)
