Just bought a grand cherokee zj, struggling to find much info on tyre sizes. Most googling seems to go to yank sites, which seem to be big bodylifts and huge tyres. I want to find out what size mud tyre i can put in at stock height. Anyone got any info on this? Thanks. Have a picture for your troubles

Not much more than stock I'd think. Play with willtheyfit.com to get an idea on clearances over stock.

I see you're in the south east. I have a couple of tyres kicking about if you want to try some for size? 31/10.5/15 which I think will be too big, but I also have two a little smaller than may do the job.
What kind of tyre do you want? Can you not get some BFs all terrains in similar size to what you have?

Ive been looking at bf goodrich all terrain, theres a company doing 4 for £360 in 235 70 16 which is close to stock. Just wondering whether to get a set of wider steels first or stick with stock alloys.

Who is the company JK that is a good deal. Unless you going a completely different size I'd stick with the alloys.

Look out for Insa Ranger. Same pattern as BFG A/T, and the Insa Dakar is the BFG M/T.

Was going to ask the question bout insa. Look cheap too. Everyone trust the remolds?

I've got Insa Turbos on my L200. Probably done 1500 miles since getting them. Very noisy, incredibly noisy in fact but bearable. Not enough miles to comment on wear or anything like that. Have to say they're far grippier in the wet compared to my BFGs that made the thing super tail happy.
When compared to my BFG of same size, my Insa Turbos are considerably bigger.

Well there cheap enough so i prob give em a go. Cars only a cheapy, not spending mega money on it. Cant see me doing many miles either going by fuel consumption.
Same size boots as my old dosco 2 aswell, so if i manage to get another i can swap tyres on to that.
Thanks for everyones help.

Which insa turbos do you have? Dakar, Sahara and Special Tracks are quite loud. Not sure on Rangers, probably a bit louder than BFG A/Ts but shouldn't be too much. Obsoletely no issue with remoulds. The selection process on decent carcasses to remould is probably more stringent than the outright manufacture process for cheap Chinese ditchfinders. I have only ever had remoulds on the Disco and never had a problem.
