Here is my Rover Sterling V6 for a very reluctant sale.
For people who know and for those that don't these are exceptionally rare now (Looks to be about 12 left Taxed)!!
The Cars Mot ran out on october 6th I haven't put it through another one although the last one it had no advisories
I bought this car as a rolling and driving restoration and this is how I'm selling it as.
When i bought the car it had been standing for a few years and i did the regular things to recomission it like oil and filter, gearbox oil, brake fluid. The cambelt was changed according to the previous owner while it was laid up about a year before i bought it.
The engine has done 168000 and is very good with plenty of grunt however as is usual on these honda V6 engines it has noisy hydraulic tappets until warm. It is wearing an induction cone at the moment as the pipe has split where it joined the old airbox but there was enough on the end to hold this filter. This was added before i bought it as the pipe is incredibly hard to source and also the original airbox is also missing which is a shame as its also quite rare.
The Auto Gearbox is very good also with fresh fluid about 12 months ago.
The bodywork is straight and doesnt have alot of rust which is unusual for one of these. The paint on the other hand is quite poor although the photos make it look quite good which on the sides it isn't too bad. It has laquer peel from a previous respray and the bonnet has been resprayed again and is a poor finish. The worst parts are the roof and boot. There is some rust some small patches at the bottom of the rear wheel arches and the lip where the boot rubber sits is rotten and this is causing the boot to leak. Also there is a patch on the sill which has been covered with anti rust paint to stop the spread. Also recently the drivers door handle has snapped so you can't open the door from the outside.
The interior is in good order with quite a lot of kit including Working climate control (cold but could be colder) Electric Leather seats front and back (1 back seat not working suspect the motor as the relay clicks) Electric windows which i have rewired due to them not working properly. The leather is a little cracked in places i have treated it a few times and has improved since iv bought it. The trip computer works but the LCD on the display has bled.
As iv said this is a rolling resto which runs and drives very well and would be ideal for someone who has the time for it.
The only reason its up for sale is it doesn't get used anymore as iv just moved in to a new home and got married
Also can be insured on a classic policy i had my renewal through at 178 for the year.
Really want this to go to a good home and would rather it not get broken as its so rare in this spec
£300
