I've been told I need to move some cars on because the garden's starting to look ridiculous. As I've got to start somewhere, here goes...
The car is a '94 Carlton Diamond estate, it's a 2.0 auto with a fraction over 70k miles from new and an MOT until September 2017. It drives beautifully and in the last six months I've spent very nearly the asking price on new parts, including:
- new radiator and thermostat
- cambelt, water pump and full service
- discs and pads all round
- 5 brand new Nexen tyres
- new Varta battery
As much as my local MOT tester enjoys winding me up, even he had to admit that this is an excellent car with virtually no rust at all. The only bits I've found are a small hole under the battery and some surface corrosion on the near side rear arch, I genuinely don't think you'd find a better estate shell without a lot of trouble. The interior is very good, there is some wear on the driver's seat bolster as you'd expect, and the headlining has sagged quite badly in the boot area unfortunately. Mechanically it's spot on. I was going to do a gearbox oil and filter change but never got round to it, so it comes with a new filter and a gallon of ATF in the boot.
The only thing that lets this car down is the paintwork really. When I bought it the near side front wing had been hit, I've replaced it with a much better second hand wing (which isn't perfect but still took me 12 months to track down), and painted it myself with an aerosol. It wasn't a bad job by any means, but it is fairly obvious that it's been done. The near side front door has some minor damage near the front as shown in the pictures as well. The rest of the car has odd areas of lacquer peel which I assume happened when it was in storage for a few years before I bought it.
I'm asking £695 or a near offer for her, which I think is very reasonable. Pics will be up in a few minutes. It's in the SA18 area in South Wales, about 10 minutes from the end of the M4. If you're interested give me a call or a text on zero seven 866 one 26 five 92.
