Just come back from saving a car from certain death. It was pocket money cheap so rude to say no- you know how it is I'm sure Anyway its home now. It was built in 1977, its a 2 door saloon. When this car was released everyone took the pi$$ and still do today. Can anyone guess what rotten wibblepoo is on my trailer? *edit* It was made in 1976, oops!

I is rubbish at guessing Austin Allegro? Is it a BL product? Trying to think what cars built in the 70's people still think are curse word Need more clues, is it RWD? I hope it's a LADA!

Ah feck- too easy. Yep, its an all aggro. Well done! Here it is.. I havent had a proper look at it yet but it failed its MOT due to rust 18 months ago... Oh the horror... TBH doesnt look too bad. Ive seen rotten allegros and this looks solid in the major aggro rot spots. Great runner too. Brakes and clutch seem good. Comes with FSH, original bill of sale, all MOTS e.t.c. Better pics tomorrow.

Cool Is at an A series or an E series? The hydragas seems to be holding up nicely and I love the colour I still miss my old allaggro from time to time The two doors seem to be much rarer that four doors. Great save!

Its a 1300 A series engine. I was suprised as the hydragas is usually the first thing to go on neglected aggros. Rear susension rebound straps have gone so its pretty high at the rear.
The 2 doors are rarer than 4 doors. Id prefer a 4 door though- better proportioned.. This is my second 2 door though!
My first car was a orange series 2, 2 door allegro. It was great. Rusty body and smoky engine consigned it to scrapyard heaven though (or hell most likely)

Now that's great!!
I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these to do the daily M5 shuffle when The Scrote finally dies. Cheap tax, 40mpg, fix it with an adjustable spanner and some Gaffa tape. Quality.

Ive had a good poke round and given it a damn good clean! Those pics are a bit old and the aggi was covered in green algae, some of it had pitted the paint. It needs a good t-cut and polish and it will look pretty smart. Theres a few dents and I popped out a big one on the passenger door. Rust wise it needs a drivers sill or maybe a couple of largish patches and a couple of patches up near the front tie bar mountings on the inner wing. The front lower corners of the front wings are crusty but could just fibreglass that. Floor pan is mint, boot floor is mint, inner wings are very good apart from the slight rot by the tie bar. Front valance is scabby and will probably yield a few small holes but overall excellent for a neglected old scrapfodder aggro. The car was rust treated from new- funny black underseal stuff. Its seems to have done a good job but is everywhere, front and rear valances, engine bay and rear arches. The rear arches are solid but scabby. Engine, box, brakes and clutch all seem great. No binding from the brakes or anything. Exhaust back box has a blow on it. Beautiful blue vynil interior too- very seventies! Indicators, fan heater and indicators did work when I picked the car up but have mysteriously stopped working. Possibly a fuse or something. Wife says she likes it! women eh? Now- what should I do with it?? Oxford replacement As found... Cleaning.. Rust.. Finished result.. not too bad.. Apart from the rust it will need for its MOT- Drivers wing mirror replacing, exhaust blow fixing, electrics sorting out and probably a couple of tyres (ive got loads though!) Oh and the rebound straps...... You cant get a jack high enough to get the rear wheels off the ground!

Nice find, and yes the reason why the heater fan etc have stopped working is because of a fuse, look in the owner manual to see what fuse does what ;D

ooh you lucky guy I always wanted a 3 door to play with especially in my fave colour pageant blue probably the best colour after applejack ive had a little photochop about with it fell asleep doing it too I must get to bed if it were me thats how it would be but with a tomcat engine lurking underneath and a series 3 bootlid for even more smoothness. but then of course you cant do that as its my lifelong ambition to do one in such a way one day and lastly my agro attempt at the age of 15 and yes 15inch bluebird turbo wheels went straight on and didnt rub anywhere even with al the fluid out!!!

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

We had Allegros continuously from 1976 until about 1992. Simultaneously really good yet really bad, IYSWIM.
This one is getting me all nostalgic though. I still like the Allegro shape.
Good find!
