Selling while there's still enough test to allow someone to get it home, this has been treated with Ensis since new, when the supplying dealer had it done for its original owner, so even now, 26 year on, there's no rot. The car has never needed as much as an advisory blurb over the years on vehicle structure, the inner/outer sill and arch lips still have no spread thanks to that Ensis having penetrated the shell properly at the dealership, the rear turrets, boot floor, spare wheel well and even the sunroof skin are all free from rust.
Engine is the tough and reliable 4A-F on an equally reliable carb of the fixed jet variety, so no worries about an auto choke failing and it always goes through on emissions. Transmission is the equally strong Aisin A131L, the L being Lockup, signifying that this has a converter clutch which ensures that once you're on the move, there's no lag and hence brilliant fuel economy. Fluid in there is clean and fresh, as is the ridiculously dear synthetic oil in the engine and the Toyota "for life" waterless coolant, last replaced at 61,000 miles along with the timing belt (engine is "safe", so no nasty damage if that should ever fail).
I have full history, mostly stamped at Toyota dealers' premises with a few local independents in there, every test from three years old and three keys, one absolutely split new, one serviceable original and one original that's wasted a fair bit, hence my buying the new one.
Paintwork is original apart from a touch in to the n/s/f wing that dates back to the mid '90s, there is a golf ball radius sized ding in the front edge of the bonnet that isn't visible in the photos or when the car has just had a wax, an equally insignificant ding on the front edge of the o/s/f arch and a scratch in the top surface of the rear bumper from when it was whacked from behind by a dangerously rotten Clio whose unlicenced owner hadn't even got a test certificate. The car was not written off as it was valued at £1700 by the Hoopers engineer so there's no hidden cat D or worse to worry about.
Interior is almost perfect, the original Philips radio/cassette is available with the car, but there's a Becker DAB/CD/SD reader/USB equipped set in there just now. As is usual with Toyotas, the radio is a DIn set but fits from the sides meaning that the stack and the instrument surround has to come out to swap back.
Exhaust system is an only slightly larger than stock, LongLife stainless system fitted to a (new, from ATP via Rock Auto in Wisconsin) replacement, upgraded exhaust manifold. Both of these parts are warranted, the system for life and transferable to subsequent keepers by going to your nearest LongLife outlet and changing owner details on their system. Imagine that; never having to pay for an exhaust system again!
The car has that slightly offbeat howl that typifies these twin cam A motors and it goes very well indeed, though it's not in the GTI league but nor is it desperately slow.
With the car comes an unused, genuine Toyota radiator that won't be needed any time soon but which cost a tenner from eBay so was grabbed "just in case".
MOT is up on the 24th of this month, mileage is around 85000 now and I am unable to get it tested simply because I've transferred the insurance to its replacement, the bB that I bought last month and I've also transferred my free VED entitlement to that car so short of paying for six months VED, adding to my insurance and paying someone to drive it to the test station for me, it won't be renewed. The reason I bought the bB in the first place is that I can only manage to get in and out of the Liftback with help. Once in there, it's a very comfortable thing to drive but as I'm not going to get any more mobile, the tall bB is the only car I can manage single-crewed these days.
I will listen to offers as long as they're not offensive as I get that these are currently very undervalued but equally, this one is rust free and useable as a daily car, which I managed for the last year and a half until I had to be rescued from the car one day in the AsDa car park and realised that I had to have something easier for transferring in and out.
Images are too large or of the wrong format but can be seen at my flickR under "WirelessJohn" in the "Miss Willcox" album. If any specific pics are required please ask by PM and I'll have these taken, I need roughly two days to get someone who can take underside pics to do so, but can do topside ones easily enough, though the car is much as it looked in the summer when the album was put up.
Finally (I know, sorry...) yes, it has all five of its factory alloys, the four on the hubs have good Avon ZT5s on them and the spare has a no name, but legal and not perished tyre.
