Here we have an example of one of the last of the 'SD3' Rover 200 series… affectionately referred to as 'Hyacinth'. Just 35k on the clock and owned by the same original owner between 1989 and 2013. Myself and a colleague bought it earlier this year to take part in a feature for classic car magazine that involved driving down to Geneva and back, with assorted adventures along the way… all of which will be detailed in forthcoming issues of the mag, but suffice to say we made it without any issues. Car ran well and didn't drop even a mm on the dipstick. Pre-trip planning involved getting the car a fresh MoT (expires August 11, 2017). All that was required to pass was a new wiper blade. We also changed the oil/filter, coolant and brake fluid, plus fitted a new set of front tyres with the Swiss passes in mind. It is in as good a condition as you would expect for the low mileage and cherished ownership. The odd scratch and blemish here and there, but then it is 27 years old. Engine is the 1600 S-series and it is no road burner, but peppy enough and returns 40mpg on a gentle motorway cruise. It has served us well, but the pair of us have other projects on the go that need love and attention, so it is time for this beauty to go to a new home. Will come with a set of rear brake shoes, spare fan belt and model specific Haynes manual. I can be contacted by PM on here or email at mattDOTgeorgeATpracticalclassics.co.uk More boring pics here…

Perhaps the initial asking price is a tad optimistic. We're very much open to offers on this, so try us…

That's lush and a rare sight now. We had a 213s years ago, like a little sewing machine engine but very quiet and comfortable and reliable. Good boot too. Same colour as well. Hmm, tempting.
What are the rear of the sills and rear arches like? Went pretty crusty on ours.

What are the rear of the sills and rear arches like? Went pretty crusty on ours. Off the top of my head, they are still pretty good. Will take some pictures tomorrow and get them up, as annoyingly I'm at work in a different car today and the Rover is at home!

That's really clean and solid for one of these. I had Vitesse on an F plate which had to be scrapped in 1998 having just about dissolved with sills, boot floor, rear seat pan and drivers A post all gone.
