Here for sale is my MK2 Spitfire that me and a friend brought back to life 3 years ago, after it spent roughly 19 years stored in a garage! It then spent another 3 years in a garage because the owner couldn't decide what to do with it, so when it came up for sale in May I part exchanged my Dolomite Sprint to buy it. I have thoroughly enjoyed owning it over the summer as it is a good thrill to drive and certainly makes a scene wherever it goes! However after actually owning it, (rather than just lusting after it!) I quickly realised I cannot look after it sufficiently enough for it to last, this car deserves a garage and proper protection as currently, it's just kept under a cover with a crook lock! I feel this car in it's current condition should go to someone who can look after it properly.
During my ownership there have been a number of repairs and details carried out to make it a perfectly usable classic where you can just get in and go whenever the mood takes you!
The paint is very vibrant and polishes up excellently, there are imperfections however such as a few chips, cracks and areas of a kind of 'non shiny' look, but these area's come out after a good polish an can only realistically be seen up close! The interior again is very presentable but a little 'rough around the edges' in terms of quality, The seat foams remain but collapsed, the carpets have a few rough areas (and holes thanks to a mouse apparently!) there are also areas where I believe trim is missing, most notably the in the boot, but having never owned a standard Spitfire I couldn't tell you!
The chassis appears to be in excellent condition, as does the 'tub', the underside of the tub looks to have been previously painted/protected, this is beginning to flake away and slight surface rust is beginning to appear in areas, the arches also have a couple of bubbles each side, as does a small area near a join in the panels to the left of the boot lid. The bottom of the bootlid is the worst area for rust as pictured, there is substantial bubbling along the bottom of the lid. The side windows have slight scratching from use. The windscreen frame also has some surface rust under the A-pillar, however it is still solid. The panel alignment isn't the greatest and has resulted in a few scuff areas where panels come into contact.
There is a substantial collection of receipts from work carried out in the mid to late 80's both mechanical and body, these include a new gearbox and reconditioned differential among suspension, bearing and engine work that has been carried out, however the diff does have a slight whirr to it.
In the nutshell, I love this car! It looks awesome, feels great fun to drive and creates a scene wherever it goes! But having had my fun with it I don't want to just see it rot away on my parking space, I also find I just don't use it often enough!

I tried listing this on eBay but kept then dealing with time wasters so decided to advertise it at a fixed price, also gives people more time to come and view the car before making a decision.
