I destruction-tested my exhaust the other day , unfortunately I had to amputate as it was too far gone. It looked like a Brandy Snap . So, I'm looking at building a system - it's quite as straightforward affair really, lots of straight pipe, an S-bend to clear the axle and a back box (I'm doing away with the centre box). Does anyone know where I can get some steel pipe from? I know you can buy it from places like Burton Power, but I was wondering if anyone had found an alternative (cheaper) source. I'm looking at 2.5in bore I think... In the mean-time, I've bodged on a side-exit. Far too loud to live with day-to-day, but it'll do for the show!

Cool, cheers. I'll go visit my local one. I suppose I could find somewhere that has a pipe-bender, but that might start costing

I've often dreamed of building my own exhaust, like stanton says try the local steel merchant. It will be a load cheaper than Burton Power. I also believe (rightly or wrongly) that Ashley did or still do bits to build a DIY zorst, might be worth a poke about? In the mean-time, I've bodged on a side-exit. Far too loud to live with day-to-day, but it'll do for the show! Quality, can't wait hear it ;D

try your local motor factors, i got 6 foot of straight pipe for a few quid. shame I'm not at work, i work in an exhaust plant, i could have seen about raiding the scrap* skip. *this is not what you or i would call scrap, its all useable pipe that might have a scrape or a dent in it.

Whitey pipes FTW! ;D ;D Davecocacola, hombre... that's handy to know! ;D I would have liked to have made a centre-exit system but a) there's a fuel tank in the way and I need to tuck it out of harms way b) I'm not sure that it'd look right on the big ol' tank.

Not worth getting the boot for a bit of pipe, don't wanna get you into bother Dave! I'll have an ask around my local places. I've got an Ashley back box that'll do the job, so it's only the tubing I need really.

It depends really, I've got a ropey Ashley back box courtesy of Street, and I've looked around for cheap aftermarket ones but they all seem to have 4in tailpipes with a 3/4in entry. I do not wish to look like a penis. ;D
