1979 Fiat 128 Familiare estate that was stored in a barn from 1997. Only 20711 original miles (milage will go up as I enjoy driving it ). Body has been Ziebart protected from day 1. It is unbelievable condition with 99% original paint and no welding.
Engine and gearbox: The previous owner installed a 1.5 fiat Ritmo/Strada engine and 5 speed gearbox. It absolutely flies and is a delight to drive. In my ownership I have replaced the distributor, plug leads, battery, flexi brake lines and starter motor. The carb has been reconditioned and fuel lines replaced at the same time as full service. It runs beautifully and sounds great. The steering tracks perfectly and the brakes pull up well. The engine gets to temperature quickly and the needle never leaves the middle. Does not smoke, use oil or water.
The gearbox is nice and selects gears easily with no crunching.
Bodywork: As already mentioned - incredible original condition. There are the odd age related marks and small bubbles but nothing that detracts from the look. I have sympathetically gone round the car and done touchups to prevent any deterioration. The colour match is perfect and the car comes with the spare paint. The underside has had a fresh coat of underseal. It is not lathered on to hide nasties, it is there purely as a protection. The period correct alloys (with Pirelli tyres) have been sprayed copper and really suit the car.
Interior: Perfect apart from a 3mm hole in the headliner that I would have to point out to see. That's all I can say about the condition .... it's that good! It is a very comfortable and practical car to use. The rear seats fold flat to create a very usable space that would put most modern estates to shame! I have installed some rear seat belts. Everything works even the light that tells you the handbrake is on! Doors close with a reassuring clunk and all locks work on one key.
So if you are after an extremely rare (I think it is the only fiat 128 estate on the road in the UK!), original 'quick' fiat for showing, weekend cruising or daily use.... then come buy this fiat. Car comes with old MOT's, original handbook , Haynes manual, 4x original wheels and some spares. Once last thing - don't worry about sourcing spares or replacement parts - they are readily available. Car has 9 months MOT. Genuine reason for selling.
Collection from Brighton or happy to help with arrangements or shipping/transporting after receiving full payment.
