Hello,
i'm looking at purchasing a pair of weber 40 dcoe on a pinto manifold, but i'm no expert on carbs.. i have spoke to one person and they said stay clear of them. The have on top of the carbs 40DCOE 35 and the next carb 40DCOE 34 and was told they wont work on a pinto? help needed as my bid is already in on them and would be a bummer to purchase carbs that are wrong and wont work on my pinto. what does the 35 and 34 stand for?
Thanks James

30 seconds googling brings me to believe these are webers made specifically for rootes group 1725cc motors and don't work with much else for some reason . Different jets and various holes apparently make them a very difficult to tune. www.lotuselan.net/forums/lotus-carbs-f40/weber-dcoe-types-t24432.htmlSeems they are often for sale on x/flow or pinto manifolds as people cannot get them to work . May as well wait as carbs are always on ebay .

You could always ask them to remove the bid as you found out what the numbers mean

Most people are ok about it if you do want to remove it , I'm sure someone else will no doubt buy them .

I still haven't got a reply but hopefully it is removed.. I just found another link stating them specific carbs was designed only for the rootes engine. Just seems i can never come across a pair of 40's that are complete ready to bolt on then take to get rolling roaded

I know , most are missing bits . Make sure when you do get some that the rolling road stocks spares so they can change bits as necessary.
